Vaughan gone because Bowyer 'would never stand in the way of someone wanting to play at a higher level'.

Hang on, weren't we 'taking decisions purely based over what's best for this football club' this week Gary?

    I smell bullshit....

As mentioned previously, it seems deja vu to the Windass/Johnson deadline day year.
It appears to be a fire sale to get as many 'big hitters' off the books ASAP.
Just need some mug to take Akpan on

Other more prudent managers don’t let strikers go out on loan until they have a replacement. How come we are doing just that! I don’t give a damn about Vaughan career or whether he wanted to sign for a 1 league club.

I think I disagree. Even if we do get someone in. It will be as if no one has seen JV and ED leaving. Eoin Doyle leaving has been on the wall since the day he returned. Vaughan, surely someone on the inside must've realized that he and GB were beginning to but heads? Any business worth its salt builds contingency plans. We don't build plans. We go to Asda and buy a packet of plasters and whack them over the cracks.

Would there be another club in the football league that lets two of the top scorers leave within hours of one another?

I read more than I contribute on here. Sometimes I laugh at how negative people are. But even I cannot fathom what's happening. Take league position out of the equation right now and even your thoughts on GB. I feel like I'm headbutting a wall - but what is the plan moving forward medium and long term? Main issue the club has at the minute is there is so much apathy. If Rupp did come out and make a statement half the people on here would call its lies the other half would be sceptical at best. Who could blame them? Bradford City, the gift that keeps on giving.

Like a lot of us said when the news broke, the club have backed a deeply unpopular manager incapable of playing an effective and attractive brand of football in favour of two excellent League Two strikers easily capable of firing us to promotion.

    Why?

    Because it's cheaper.

Sadly, the fan base was infuriated the second it heard the news, and are smart enough to see what's happening.

In fairness, I’d have taken Grigg over Vaughan any day of the week. It hasn’t come off so we’re left looking very light but I think that deal would have strengthened us above and beyond anything Vaughan offers.

So would signing lionel Messi but it was about as likely.

Don't let the club fool you, at no point did they ever think they'd sign Grigg (or any other replacement striker) Vaughan was simply let go because someone flashed a five pound note in front of us.

I think with all this going on, I am so sad to see what this club has become from where we were prior. Rupp and Edin (and Rhodes/Lawn for selling to these muppets) want to all be ashamed of themselves for turning us into such an amateurish joke of an operation.

It will be an absolute joke if doyle goes with no replacement lined up. Worrying when bowyer said we had Patrick on the bench and he's looked sharp since coming back. We cant possibly hope to go up with oteh and Patrick as back up. Oteh was awful tues mite as well of had 9 men

The absolute shambles that was Tuesday night's game and you're digging out Oteh?

What is he supposed to do when the ball is constantly lumped just anywhere in a 60 yard radius and his nearest support is still in our own penalty area?

There's only two people to blame for Tuesday and neither of them are Oteh.

Rahic was totally incompetent, right! So we bring back the highly experienced and prudent Rhodes, right? He’s the man to steady the ship, right? So what does he do? In an unprecedented move for a 4th tier club he signs a 30 year old on big money on a THREE year contract. This is a player who seldom stays anywhere very long but we hail him as our flagship signing. The manager describes him as a winner, a natural leader, an inspiration and makes him captain. By January however this player, Vaughn, is being called a bad apple and is on his way. Simultaneously our other prolific scorer brought back to a wave of optimism is on his way. But this is Rhodes not Rahic. I personally don’t see much difference. Does anybody at the club know what’s going on. Is nobody prepared to come out and make a statement. Going into the last two days of the window desperate for players is not good management. It’s rank bad management in fact. It’s the way to Rahic and ruin!

I agree. Too much rubbish is thrown this young strikers way tbh. Yes some of it is valid, but to put him as loan striker with the rest of the team camped in the Cheltenham half was ludicrous.. it really is not making use of his electric pace.

I suppose the only thing to do now is to wait until 11 tomorrow night. Then we’ll know if there’s method in their madness - or madness in their method.

People go on about how wonderful Lawn and Rhodes were compared to now, but forget the period between 2007/12 when we rarely looked like getting out of this league. It was only incredible luck in having a couple of amazing cup runs and selling our star player to local rivals that gave the club some stability under Parkinson. With no cup run since 2015 I wonder where we would be now if they were still here. You wouldn’t be moaning about Vaughan and Doyle going ,we would never have afforded them in the first place. Rhodes admitted they wouldn’t have been able to afford Wyke after Hanson was sold because there was no cup run.

The model under under Rupp is exactly the same as it was under Lawn. Neither are funding the club.

I think our bubble has now well and truly burst, I know we are a faithful lot but I strongly expect up to a 50% reduction in next seasons ticket sales unless the club can be sold in the meantime...

Not surprised Sunderland (as just reported on Sky News) have rejected our bid for Grigg. Even if they wanted to sell him to us they would still have us over a barrel knowing the position were in. Expect all clubs to raise the ante the closer the deadline is. I believe Man U are having the same problems.
