WOAP covered this on the media meeting last night (quote below). It also mentioned the installment of McBurnie money has helped cover the Doyle recall. Still paying a lot of the Hornby & Longridge wages, also still paying Tyrell Robinson.

"The overall playing budget for this season is £2.7 million – but Gary has only been able to spend 40% of that budget. The rest is taken up by players who were under contract for this season. What a load of bollocks. He could be handed his perfect squad on a plate and still wouldn't know how to get a tune out of them. He's out of his depth and this job is too big for him. It's down to him not the players, the way they have been asked to play. He's got no ideas, he's tactically inept and doesn't set up his teams to win. Worst excuse I've heard. He's a Charlatan and he's been found out. Pathetic manager.

 

If Bowyer can’t get the best out of Doyle, Vaughan, Reeves, Cooke etc then giving him a larger budget wont make any difference. He’s already got some of the better players in this division but has no idea how to use them.

 

I actually disagree with this on a few points. First of all should we get promoted this season and find ourselves mid table league 1 next season, the knives will still be out imo, a lot are expecting us to go up then challenge at the right end immediately.

And also I don’t think you can compare us or any other club to Salford, they’re a total anomaly. We, and most other clubs in the FL have a number of hardcore fans who’ve gone for donkeys years. Salford used to get a couple of 100 and a lot of them jumped ship when the club lost its identity. Most now are United supporters who go when Untied are away or they can’t get tickets, I spoke to a few young lads when we played them who told me exactly that, in a way it’s commendable there’s nothing wrong with going to watch lower league football if you support one of the big PL clubs. But with that comes a lack of caring, most of their so called fans will be more bothered about United getting top 4 than Salford getting promoted, it’s a day out for them, where as most clubs it’s almost a way of life a true passion to follow their club.

So no next season if we’re in league 1 mid table, I think they’ll be plenty of grumbles with each defeat.

Well we have reportedly our best defensive record in 35 years so the defence and goalkeeper are all doing well Vaughan is on course for over 20 goals playing in a defensive team. And it’s bloody amazing how well reeves has comeback after a two year absence

 

You see this would be a viable defence of Bowyer if the players making up the other 60% of that budget from last season were all shite. But they're not. O'Connor, O'Donnell, Wood, Reeves, Doyle are all first names on the team sheet in their respective positions when fit, so this idea that he's hampered with players he doesn't want is a nonsense deflection tactic from Sparks. He inherited players who had a poor L1 season for a number of reasons but they are showing they're very good L2 players, with the exception of one or two. Granted he's stuck with Akpan who he may or may not want but he also re-signed Anderson and Devine - are they in this 60%? If so he's only got himself to blame hasn't he.

And tellingly, of the three players who have left since the start of the season, two (Longridge and Hornby) are HIS signings which he clearly wasted funds on.

Take the blinkers off Park. We've been below par since the 1st day of the season. The players confidence is at rock bottom. The fans are booing the manager. On what grounds do you think this team is a success? There's not one game we have controlled from start to finish. We had 30% possession against a struggling side on Saturday and lost a 2-0 lead. That doesn't scream a great team setup or a great game plan by the manager. He's devoid of ideas and his interviews are getting worse by the day. He's either lost the plot and can't see what is in front of him or he's so arrogant he believes in this "style" of play.

 

18 signings say he was left with plenty to work with.

 

This was answered at the media meeting last night if you’re interested. Allegedly of a 2.7 million budget Bowyer has had 40% of that for his signings

 

5 out of the first choice back 6 of our immaculate defence were already in the building when Bowyer arrived, as was Jake Reeves. The fact that you’ve picked out last seasons players to highlight Bowyers credentials only emphasises my point about how giving him more funds would not have made a difference. His tactics and brand of football focuses on keeping it tight at the back and suits the defenders. It’s hardly a blueprint in getting the best out of attacking talent.

Latest posts by him on Insta, is that he can’t wait for July so he can go on holiday (4* hotel, two weeks in Marrakesh).

I kind of get the feeling he’s taking the piss somewhat.
