Once Sunderland up their offer to parky he’ll be there

 

They may be thinking that one or two other managers might be available, once Sunderland, Swansea etc have made their decisions. It's quite an unusual pre-season is that there are a couple of vacancies in our league and then a few in The Championship

However, Sunderland can't now have Wilder, so it will be interesting to see who they go for.

So to summarise, we want a coach who has to:

- make lower league 1/2 shite into profitable assets.
- make cast offs from the development squad into profitable assets.
- give game time to development squad players even when they're not good enough.
- achieve promotion on a shoestring.

We don't need a coach, we need Jesus.

 

I question why 'die hard' fans will become disheartened after the comedy show that was years 2004 to 2011

A lack of perspective or simply failed memories is prevalent on these boards. You'd think we'd spent 20 years in Sunderland's positions, such is the ridiculous negativity

Really? Has Edin said that we've no chance of promotion and we're giving up next season. Please name these "many other assurances that were made" that are now "out of the window"

I see virtually no difference to what they said then in comparison to what they say now. The big difference is that when they took charge the were preaching to an audience desperate for some optimism. So they gave it, but even then it was always said with caution and a caveat thrown in. We can always take a few words out of context and make out they promised the world

But don't take my word for it, read what they told the T&A the day they took over. I can't see any difference to what they're saying and doing now. They even say "we must manage expectations of the fans"!! Who says that in a wave of so called optimism??!!

The reason why I defended them is because I never saw them as an answer to every prayer in the first place. I saw them as a step above the previous odd couple, but not a Hoyle or Vincent Tan.

But maybe I'm wrong. I read every article about them when they took over and I found nothing that indicated we'd found a Jack Walker. I found plenty that told me we had some good pragmatic business people. Clearly, I read the wrong articles

 

After reading 52 pages it' quite clear that no matter whatever happens with this club we have so many fans willing to accept failure. The vast majority of football fans know the way modern football is run and the model being offered is not the problem it' the failed footballer and failed scout and failed Stuttgart kickers of the regional leagues director who has zero money and zero knowledge of a professional league especially in this country. Dress it up any way you sympathisers want but you are trusting a failure through blind faith, a faith you wouldn't have accepted 20/30 years ago. You've all gone soft and your ambition is tantamount to " it' the taking part that counts" and that makes you part of the problem

I never said Wyke was shit. The only reason we got a player of his quality for the prices we're willing to pay was because of the release clause. No way we would've paid what carlisle wanted otherwise and would've been left with more Poleons and McCartens.

I'm glad you brought up Cardiff. It took their owners to do a massive u-turn on their policies to win back the trust of their supporters and it's paid off.

I'm happy to be patient on this one Ricc. I'm sceptical of Edin but as our new coach wont be signing players, let's just see who is available for the money we have on the table. We need to get it as right as we can.

 

We don't need Lord Edin to declare we have no chance.

I don't think any of us are pleased with the way things have panned out and I personally will reserve my 'hysteria' when I think it warrants it, which is not saying never.

But really!.. come on.

I'm waiting to see how much they have learned, if anything and whether they can turn things around.

If we are flirting with the bottom four of the league come Christmas I will probably show some disapproval but the fact remains, whatever you want, they are not going anywhere without a profit of some nature.

So if you can get a consortium together with £8 million or so good luck to you.
