Wellens probably wants him longer term. Therefore, in order to make sure he doesn't sign up for someone else in summer, they push the boat out, pay a good fee and offer him an extended contract at slightly lower than he is on now. The extended nature of the contract at his age should make it attractive to him.Of course they may have already sorted that out with him plus a signing on bonus. So make them sign him now for afee or bring him back.

 

I suspect we will be happy to get a small fee with ad ons and his full wages off the books. Not enough of his contract left.

Feels like the player will hold the aces and can get himself a good move in the summer on a free.

To be honest,I'm not over confident about the way things are going this season at all. We seem to be treading treacle with constant so-called setbacks. We still lack conviction, leadership and true backbone imo. We are seeing too much soft underbelly and we subsequently appear to be tightrope walking as a playoff hopeful. Some change is needed because we seem disjointed and not pulling in the same direction..re the optimism of Rhodes and the reality at pitch side. We need a very good January irrespective of today's result for sure.
