Tell that to those such as @Park bantam@Park bantam and @banbrotam@banbrotam who have advocated the Huddersfield approach because they also have done it frugally. No, they haven't!

To do it the Huddersfield way, will also cost our owners many millions. And it just isn't going to happen.

Town are 38 million pound in debt to Hoyle. He threatened at one point to leave when he was getting criticised for his one in one out policy

Unfortunately again I can't claim to be an expert on goings on at Brentford. But from a far, they had a development squad and were certainly focused on player development. The players that they invested/brought in and developed with Warburton in charge is quite impressive.

As you say though, it would be a surprise if they manage to get him but if they can then there can be no question about the owners' financial commitment because he wouldn't come cheap.

£52 mill to be precise at the last count. But you were saying only a few posts ago that Town were now self sufficient because of player sales

Regarding our financial position ...... I'm on YOUR side.
I don't agree with all your posts, but credit where it's due, and I'm not shy of saying so. :)

He owns the bloody club, he’s in debt to himself. Can we now stop mentioning Huddersfield as an example of a club we can follow. Please?

It’s not his fault we paid 2.5 million for him.

He’s earning his stripes at the min. Better than some others on our shortlist

The head coach is paramount to it all. Without Wagner they wouldn’t be in the premier league let alone surviving in it.

This appointment is crucial for city. The rest will follow

    You're missing the point

When Hoyle took over, they were already well down the road with their youth policy and had a good academy. This meant he could spend money on infrastructure as they'd already got a first team, with good assets - it just needed a good signing or two. Very easy to spend more money elsewhere, when a lot of hard work has been done

Even so he still didn't buy the training ground, until they were in The Championship - three years after he bought the club. In other words he was as careful with his money as most sensible businessmen. It's a myth, to think that he was this big spender when they were in our position - he wasn't and got creamed for it from fans who even mocked his efforts when he splashed out on the ground

It's also simply wrong to say that our two won't spend anything. They will, but the amounts needed to bring us up to say the standard of town, even around 2009 (when Hoyle took over) is huge - because going with this 'youth' philosophy is initially expensive

I wish some wouldn't take things so literal. The model we are following is similar to the one Town had, but of course there are going to be differences - but let's lose this myth that Hoyle is some kind of benevolent Jack Walker. Yes he's put around £40m in but that's over nine seasons with six of them been in the divisions above - clearly any owner worth their salt is going to invest more in The Championship than here - because the potential return is better

It's only since Wagner came that Town fans have stopped slating Hoyle. He's had some terrible unfair abuse, which in fairness was countered by the 'sensible' fans, who of course genuinely knew he had the club at heart

The problem is on here or in the hilarious T&A comments section or WOAP, most think the owners are out to fleece us. I don't and simply present logical arguments to illustrate this

Incidentally, this doesn't mean I think they're perfect or correct or that their plan will definitely work

I agree. I made my comment as I assumed there would be a lot of bitter fans towards him. Great to see that most realise it wasn't his fault or just his fault

People are very bitter towards Hopkin. You’re right, what happened wasn’t his fault at all. If people remember correctly, he started really well then got absolutely crocked by a horror tackle at Darlington and was never the same player again. In fact I think that injury ultimately ended his career.

Town didn't 'just add a signing or two'. They built a new team. When they got promoted their budget was massive.

As somebody else stated - it was 50% higher than the 3rd biggest budget.

Town were the Blackburn/Wigan/Sunderland of the time. They spent big to get promoted.

    They are businessmen
They have not a burning ambition out of some moral social conscience to make us a great club
They are here to make money and play football manager, so far they're only successful at the first bit !

His wife also works at Valley Parade, I would think their salaries are paid in cash rather than bonuses, but they are both entitle to a salary before I get accused of bias.

Have you seen him make tea Fordy? He's tried cold water and gravy granules but that didn't go down well so he's now trying hot water but with instant coffee. And all the time, the tea lady is standing in the corner of the club canteen bursting to pass on her secrets......but it's his train set.

All the candidates seem to have their eyes wide open, that's the problem!
What we need is a world class manager applicant with really poor eyesight

Wonder if they are paid a dividend each year rather than a regular salary either way they are entitled to which ever.
