Ditto I was brought up in Bradford Moor got a 5 year apprenticeship at Crofts after leaving school at 15 worked all my life never claimed a penny when I was made redundant twice, brought two daughters up between me and my wife, I achieved what me and My family have got through hard work, I'm truly sorry you feel as you quote above but your not unique, hard work was the only thing on offer when I left school if you wanted to make your way in life.

The answer really is simple, the country does not want socialism because it just does not work......levelling down rather than up is so unfair to those of us with any aspirations...

Don’t get me wrong, completely agree with that.

The leadership election itself will be paramount in changing things. The one thing they can’t afford to do is to make exactly the same mistakes again as they did in 2016.

Did anyone see Bercow on TV last night he was boasting he'd kept MPs under control in the Commons and he was going to did it again on election night, hopefully the channel that was employing him saw sense and told him not to bother turning up, if ever there was a divisive man it was Berco.

Maybe you’re right, perhaps Socialism, under that label certainly, is an unelectable proposition in this country.

But I think it’s wrong to say that any form of redistributive economics is a non starter. It’s not, and I also think that Labour shouldn’t be too quick to throw out the baby with the bath water. Some elements of Corbynism should be praised. The attitudes towards climate change will be a vote winner in future elections, whether you agree with it or not. There were some good ideas in the manifesto that will be positive, just probably not all of them, and not all at once.

It’s effectively got to the point where Labour are going to have to retain Putney and win back Blyth. That’s going to be an extremely tough sell. And it begins in Labour HQ.

The referendum was a levelling down. Brexit isnt going to be an immediate success if indeed a success at all. But those in Blyth or Blackpool south want to bring the liberal elite aka hardworking business owners down with them. Absolute Scum, just like Corbyn.

I've put up with enough attitudes like yours today? Nothing but abuse from a large number of labour voters, it's such a shame you can't have an opinion without receiving abuse...

Corbyn was a hopeless leader but he would not have bankrupted the country. Your conception of macroeconomics and mine are very different.
I hope you're right about Johnson as PM but I doubt it. He was an utterly useless Foreign Secretary and I see no reason to believe he'll be any better as PM.

I'm not going to disagree with that. Leave was united, Remain was divided. Leave won as a result.
None of which gives me any more clue about why people like you think the gamble on Brexit is worth ten more years of the Tories.
I've been asking since the referendum why ordinary traditional labour working class voters think Brexit will be beneficial to them. It's a genuine question. I really would like to understand it. But I never get a straight answer.

I think we may have reached a point where politics in this country can't sink any lower. At least the only way is up. I have my doubts as to Johnson's longevity but it does seem like the electorate and the party are behind him. For now at least. For Labour i think they have to have a long think about who they represent and rebuild their party accordingly. most importantly they have to stop the constant infighting and with this recruit a leader who gives them the best chance of unifying this. To paint the inside of the house they need to get the keys first. Then you can paint it whatever colour you want. And the choice of leader is pivotal to getting those keys.

Going with the status quo, was not beneficial to the working classes.

I'm not saying you're implying this, but the whole "the north is thick" "the working classes are thick" etc is one of the reasons Leave won. Mental that people revolted after getting called stupid time and time again.

Labour need to reflect that the Conservatives did not win this election as much as Labour lost it, The Tory vote only went up by1%,
By comparison the Labour vote crashed down by anything up to 18%, What that says is that the Tories won because Labour supporters abandoned them as unelectable,

I agree. Calling vast numbers of pissed off people thick is part of the problem not the solution.
But I'm still struggling to understand why people who have been fecked over by the Tories for decades think that voting Brexit is going to benefit them, especially as it involves putting the Tories back in for a potentially long period. They must have reasons, but I don't understand them.
I'm not trying to be clever or disingenuous here. I would genuinely like to know why and how people towards the bottom of the pile think that pulling out of the world's most powerful trade bloc is going to help them.

Maybe the people towards the bottom of the pile feel being in the world's most powerful trade bloc has not helped them much in their life and are trying something different as a protest against the tory instigated austerity.
The eu get the blame and the tories get a chance to improve England's fortunes.

Scotland and N.I. of course can go to hell!
Wales is fed up with Labour so long term maybe turning blue like the English heartlands.
Lots of Labour marginals now, they have to adapt or wither and die as a party.

Do you employ people?. If so, have you thought of the consequencies of moving your company abroad, will you be laying staff off, leaving them unemployed?. Just a thought
