This is now getting depressing, honestly these two are going to be the ruin of the club.

Very difficult to establish exactly how much money owners put in, because if the infrastructure is poor it's an incorrect comparison if new Chairman have improve that. Hoyle inherited a club, which already had a good infrastructure and academy, so of course he spent more on players

I think Exeter would have done a Yeovil if they'd done what you suggested, i.e. do better than Exeter for a short while, but with a bleaker long term.

The philosophy is sound and now with arguably 40 clubs in the top two divisions, with even the poorest having a wage budget of at least £20K (simply because they are either former or in the Premiership or established Championship clubs or clubs who've spent the vast majority of their last 10 years in the Top 2 divisions or have massive fan base) the only way forward, unless you do get an owner willing to lose tens of millions, like the Bristol City Chairman who simply wrote off £30m a couple of years back

Spend a bit more, ie in an unplanned speculative manner and you end up like MK Dons

In recent years, I can't think of any clubs, not obeying the criteria I mentioned above and managing thrive in this division and the one above, apart from perhaps Brentford

The thing has changed. The difference between Burnley and Norwich in terms of finance is barely nothing. The difference between Norwich and Scunny is huge. Yet in terms of league positions Scunny were closer to Norwich than they were to Burnley

I think you'd have to pretty naive to think he hadn't put £50million into the club.

To compare us and them is bizarre. Our owners won't put a penny in.

 

He put a lot of money at first but the club has now been self sufficient for years they used money from player sales to progress

 

Wages were 111% of turnover in 15/16 (They recorded a deficit). So that's clearly not the case.

 

Money carried over from previous seasons

 

So they aren't self sufficient. Sooner or later that 'carried over' money runs out. A club can't claim to be self sufficient when wages are 111% of turnover (recommended guidelines from FL/PL is 60%).

 

I’ve no idea of Doyle’s credentials or any other youth team coach’s, but I say Edin, do it, appoint a no name who has never coached a senior FL team. Do it for the shits and giggles. The happy clappers will have a meltdown.

But they haven't been self sufficient for years. That's not possible with a wages/turnover ratio of 111%.
