Apologies if this has already been said, but I'm not wading through 48 pages. As the don and vaughan are having injuries, I hope Bowyer watches every Swindon game to see how Swindon set up to benefit Doyle so Bowyer can bring him back and set the team up around Doyle. Bowyers treatment of Reeves shows he's the type of manager who can help players out of the team reconnect.
Although wages will be an issue, the risk and damage to an opponent are worth it. (Could try to ship out Akpan to soften the financial blow

 

Agree but Akpan is fine where he is for now.

McCartan can chip though. Pointless.

 

Akpan is terrible. He's disguised his weak performances with a couple of goals which gave him breathing space but if shine wanted him I'd snap their hands off.

For me he's on a one way ticket to non league within the next 2 years.

 

If someone makes any offer I would get rid but that would apply to McCartan, Anderson, Devine and a few others if I am honest.

 

On Doyle, and how he’s being used. I’ve had a quick look at some of his goals for Swindon this season. The majority are poachers goals - in and around the 6 yard box and on the end of crosses.

Last season we had no wingers. We basically used him as a target man. In his games for us early this season, he played as a 10, again with no wingers.

It doesn’t look complicated to me. Get him the ball in the box and he’ll score goals. We get lots of crosses into the box - Wood, Connelly getting to the byline, Ismail from the other side. He’s converting the sort of chances that Donaldson and Vaughan have missed.

If we bring him back, I see no reason why he wouldn’t continue to score goals. I think the service we’d provide is decent enough. And it’d derail a promotion rival. If we don’t bring him back, we’re mad.

 

We've got to 50 pages on Doyle, Let's nip this one in the bud quickly we could get easily get another 150 pages on that subject alone

He can't play this season, and will leave in Summer.

Surely it’s not just as simple as bringing him back and Rupp stumping up the cash for it though? As much as I’d love to see him back, FFP is the main blocker here in my opinion.

We had to ship him out to stay within FFP regulations, and with potentially no cup run to speak of, our situation hasn’t changed much since the summer? Isn’t FFP wages vs a % of income/turnover - primarily brought in to stop people bank rolling success at the risk of the club. (Different argument for the success/enforcement of it).

This could be why all parties are staying tight lipped to see if the situation regarding FFP changes.

 

Thats why taylor is he here imo. He is a cheaper alternative to cooke who will leave in january along with maybe one or two more, giving us the couple of grand wiggle room to get back in line with fpp

 

I think Akpan is the one most likely to go in order to make room for a Doyle return. Who knows though, all guesswork at the moment.

 

Only one team can buy him this season and that is Swindon. I would recall him on 1st January to put pressure on Swindon to make us an offer we can’t refuse !

I think if Swindon can take him off our hands without any financial obligations to us we'd be happy.
ie if hes on £5k a week as reportedly with us & Swindon can only offer him £3k, we dont have to make the £2k shortfall up for the remaininder of his contract, with BCAFC which would be an approx £50k hit to us to move him on.
He may forgo that for a 2 1/2 year deal with Swindon. Alternatively he may wish to run his contract down and seek further employment with someone else.

The deal has to be right for us, as for once we hold the cards. Hope we dont fold 'em

 

Who said we had to ship him out to meet FFP? Wasn't it just more a case of freeing up wages to use elsewhere, with Rupp and Rhodes not willing to increase the budget at that stage?

 

In the meantime we want Swindon to beat all top half teams. Doyle is helping us then

 

That's a disappointing thought.

 

Its a forgone conclusion and very simple.

The divisions, Englands, UKs, Europes most inform striker is available to us on January 1st and is currently scoring goals for a promotion rival.

To argue any other way than a return to Bradford is ludicrous and smacks of stubbornness.

 

Or we do the sensible thing and recall him.
