Home to New Zealand and away to Costa Rica are his appearances. I doubt either of those games had huge crowds.

 

Correction: he wasn't good enough to start every week for the best team in L2 last season.

Little fact for ya: McCartan played more minutes for Lincoln than Jon McLaughlin, Carl McHugh and Garry Thompson did in our history making season.

Do you sneer at those three as 'not good enough'?

 

Yeah, I wasn’t referring specifically to you or your comments mate.

Donaldson missed 3mths for Birmingham in 2016/17. And having returned, picked up another which meant he missed 4 of their last 5 games.

The following season, whilst now at Blades, he only started 13 times. I don’t know if that was just Wilder’s choice or injuries. What I do know is that he scored twice against Sunderland and was then missing completely for the next 4-5 games and then never seemed to be a regular thereafter. Last season saw him involved in a similar amount of games for Bolton. That was definitely down to Parkie though.

He’s now a year older and will get some hits from the slower L2 defenders. I wouldn’t rule out injuries for him or Vaughan and I’m not convinced McCartan is the answer as a back-up or Doyle, if played as a ‘3’ up top.

 

Why is it a correction? The original statement wasn’t wrong..... you may have added/elaborated, but it wasn’t wrong, so cannot be corrected....!

 

Were Garry Thompson and Carl McHugh not good enough for us in 12/13? They played less than Shay at Lincoln.

@Steeton I'm with you on that. Heard Reeves has had a tough time. Some of the comments on social media were just awful.

Going to log out, think its a bit rude for me to say that.

 

The New Zealand game had 16,815 in attendance, but Costa Rica had 35,100 according to 11v11.

He was a sub both games, and played a whopping 7 minutes against New Zealand.

As far as Shay being comfortable in front of big crowds, though, the hammering at the hands of Costa Rica doesn't prove an awful lot...

 

Still don't buy the big crowds thing. Its not like he moved from one man and his dog to 16,000 fans.

 

I agree, I think it's just a myth someone made up and it stuck.

 

I believe it was the comment he made when he first arrived and was comparing his old club Accrington and the big difference between that club and Bradford City and what was expected.
I remember him talking about our training facilities against Accringtons, and I believe he quoted training at a sports center and not enough ball for them all, and it being nothing like the set up at Rawdon Meadows, but I don't remember him saying he's actually worried about playing infront of large crowds.
He didn't look flustered when he was put through against Bury and scored what we thought was the winner until Miller equalised for Bury in injury time.

McCartan admits it took time to acclimatise to a club of City’s size from where he had come from.

“It’s not just the size of crowd but the training as well.

“Accrington is a club different to any other. There is no gym work –everything is geared towards the game.

If we can get a winger, central midfielder in before the window closes ill be happy. Whether that's loans or so.

 

Let’s hope the GB approach of TLC has worked its magic. Obviously nothing we can do with the players anxiety about a large crowd. Maybe Vaughan can sort him out in that dept.,

 

I can take or leave McCarten. he's not brilliant, but he's alright for a back up option.

the more concerning thing is that Anthony O'Connor is still a Bradford City player and will probably start at the weekend!!
