Following on from your earlier posts about the 'old days' of small squads, and few transfers ........... I don't really recall City entering a new season with injuries, either !

 

Let's hope its as @Park bantam posted he's injured, if it is the thought of playing before 15/16,000 at home games he maybe needs to seek help, that's not going to help him going forward with his footballing career unless he is happy to play for the likes of Accy, Rochdale, Bury.
Let's hope its an injury that's kept him out of pre_season games.

Agree Chris..bet there are as many injuries incurred in training as in actual game time.

 

Yes Phil - Squads are more 'athletic' these days. Training in the 60's being injured was because a kicked ball hit the back of your head, as you were lighting up a Woodbine !!

 

He scored 3 in 24 appearances in his 1st season. I just can’t see him playing enough games/minutes to be able to increase that.

And let’s be fair, I never said he would score 7. I said if he had, Park wouldn’t have suddenly classified him as being useful.

 

I’ve read quite a few comments on The Imps board to disagree with that last comment. Agree he was involved but there’s no surprise Lincoln opted not to take him permanently this summer. There’s no doubt he was involved, but I’m simply not hopeful he will have anywhere near the same impact back at City.

 

What about the 24 goals he scored for Accrington at this level

 

And sadly Wayne - The opportunity is there for McCartan to take .... or to miss.

 

That’s a big ask though. Realistically, what is the chance that we go through the season with 2x 30+ players not picking up an injury or two?

Many fans want us to offload Doyle, yet others are advocating McCartan as a back-up, despite not doing as well, a league below

 

Is fear of playing in front of big crowds really a thing? I'm not convinced.

Shay has played for NI with much bigger crowds anyway.

 

I always find it very strange when fans patrol other teams message boards. Very odd indeed. I saw the well wishes on McCartans Twitter for what its worth.

As for Lincoln they are now in L1. Maybe Cowley only saw him good enough for L2 where he has a decent track record. The fact they were promoted seems to be ignored...

Donaldson seems to be a player who stays relatively injury free, Vaughan has had a few issues over the past seasons. I admit i'm not a big fan of Doyle but do agree it would be daft to get rid when you see what else we have in reserve. I did mention McCartan like others but the reason being more down to the opinion i don't think anyone will come in for him to take him off our hands. Ideally i'd like to see both McCartan and Doyle replaced but its more likely Bowyer will have to use them as he sees fit.

Yes, across 3 seasons and at a rate of 1 in 5. You’d be happy with a 1st team player scoring a max of 7-9 in a full season?

 

So you’re happy to read comments from their fans on Twitter but “find it strange” if someone reads comments from their actual fan page? I only visited their site because a link was listed on here the last time this debate came up.

You then say “maybe Cowley only saw him good enough for L2”.... but that’s the point. He wasn’t good enough, hence why he spent as much time on the bench as he did on the field.

 

Paudie was signed by Bowyer and know he rated him.

Maybe, with McCartan the club don't want to risk him getting injured because we want rid. It happens in football.

So called injuries are sometimes a cover up to real reasons.
