it’s not as if any of the goals were 30 yard screamers.. there was nothing to clap or celebrate; an own goal, a penalty and a tap in. i doubt those same people will be clapping if wigan score next week.

celebrating another club’s goals whether charity or not is embarrasing. if we pull one back do you think any liverpool fan will celebrate?

it’s smalltime tinpot mentality. bow down to the premier league overlords like they are doing us a favour.

it reminds when some applauded and clapped akinfenwa on to the pitch for wycombe at VP last season - that was tinpot too.

in the context of what? because we’re playing a premier league team in a charity friendly we should applaud their goals.. ridiculous.

er, because its not a competitive match, rather a celebration. Why not keep it totally friendly?

O'Donnell made a good save in the first half. Hornby made a good save in the second half and looked composed. I thought we looked well organised in the second half and there was some solid defending.

Some really good performances today - French, Gibson, Vaughan, Nortey, Palmer and Riley were very good.

Devine and Taylor looked very poor, Ainsworth doesn't like tracking back and Mellor is not a CB for me.

Thought French did well and loved his drive forward at one point. Bit of a shock to see Riley kissing the badge after Doyle scored.

It's not a competition though, so what does it matter?

The reason you don't celebrate opposition goals is you're supporting your club to increase their chances in competition.

Not sure your miserable outlook on life really factors in a charity kick about.

Just one embarrassing thing today about the match and that is the posts moaning on here.

It was a charity match, if it wasn’t for the charity element it would t be happening.

If you are so upset by something happening at a charity match you need to have a serious look at your outlook on life and maybe give other charity events a miss.

When Bolton and City staff do the Distance for Darbs walk, are we meant to only applaud City staff?

Some folk need to get a grip on reality here.
    It was a pre-season friendly.
Surely the ONLY result that matters is the amount of money raised.

There wasn’t a City fan there that clapt the Liverpool goals its a myth. Any clapping were Liverpool fans in the home sections, of which there were plenty. Nothing to see here.

Agree with the sentiment but it was actually a pre season friendly with the proceeds going to charity. It wasn't Soccer Aid.
