It'd be nice if we could add him to the squad in place of McCartan.

 

I'd rather have McCartan. Sky high wage demands and proved what Oxford and Southend fans said about him. On his day a real talent but goes missing in games and I still don't know what his best position is...

 

I think Jack Payne is a terrific little player. Yeah he was shite for us from January onward, but we played Hopkin hoof ball for some of that time, the dressing room was splintered, new manager came in with new ideas, toxic atmosphere. no body played well for any length of time in the second half of the season.

he was excellent in the first part of the season, and in a side with decent players around him that play technical stuff he'd be brilliant in attacking midfield.

not for us, but in the Championship or League 1 he's a good signing for somebody.

 

Obviously the wage demands might be an issue but in terms of talent these two are in completely different ballparks.

McCarten adds very little to this squad at present and has never been a regular at City or at Lincoln whereas Jack Payne, on his early season form absolutely walks into any team in the bottom two divisions.

 

You could be right about Akpan I’m not sure why I still have faith, I just thought he turned in a couple of really decent performance to suggest with the right positive attitude he could surprise us next year.

Mellor was pretty poor in my opinion, looked immobile, lethargic at times, injuries a factor no doubt.

I defended Doyle to the hilt due to lack of support but towards the end he did himself no favours

So like I posted , something about all 3 which suggests to me we might see better when circumstances are different

 

But that's the thing, his early season form isn't consistent for a full season hence why he's last 3 loan spells have all been league one and he's obviously deemed not good enough for the championship and he's been released!

For what it's worth I'd pick Jack but for our current predicament and wage situation it would be Shay.

 

Er ..... we're not in the championship though?

And as for the second point ..... Shay wasn't deemed good enough to be a regular starter in league two so I highly doubt he's the model of consistency either.

 

I was making the point that league ones his level. Right, I never said Shay was, what I said was our current predicament was more suited for Shay with the wages situation. I'm not saying Shays a better player am I?

I'm not a massive fan of Payne but I would have him over McCartan all day long.

Is this the same McCartan who we signed for 250k(approx) and turns up looking like Marshmallow man?

Is this the same McCartan who could get into a free flowing McCall team?

Is this this McCartan who couldn't cement a place in a div 2 team?

Is this the same McCartan who is just horse sh@te.

Another one that can't read the post, I guess I was right when I said you're only good for talking to yourself. I clearly said Jack is a better player didn't I?? I said for our predicament in terms of wages I would rather have Shay. Read before you start ranting mate. Makes you look like you lack the ability to have a debate, give your head a shake.

You don't know the wages of either player though so all we can do as fans is offer an opinion on the relative value of the player to the squad rather than concentrate on an imaginary budget.

Who knows, maybe the wage demands would be similar? After all, we've managed to bring in Donaldson and potential Vaughan who won't have been a million miles away from Payne in the last few years.

 

Are you honestly trying to say that Shay is on a similar wage to what Jack Payne would ask for??? Delusional m8.
