Jim O’Brien signed for County I’m January. They had another 19 league games to play and he started 18 times for them (and only didn’t feature for 8mins in all those games). The only reason he missed the one game he did, was down to his 5th yellow card of the season.

Personally, I think he’d do a job for us in L2 and is certainly a better bet than Devine, Anderson, Akpan and/or Wright.

 

It’s nowhere near this quality. I actually saw Pune play this season and they were the equivalent to BPA. Can’t say I noticed Mills though.

Why? Who do you think is a better keeper?
I’m not sure who some of our fans expect us to sign. Every keeper makes mistakes. Look at the gaffs by de Gea this season, but I bet a host of clubs would sign him if made available.

Why do our fans think we should sign keepers that don’t make mistakes across 4140 minutes? Expectations need a reality check

Jim O'Brien I'd take back for a season, absolutely. Shouldn't have been let go in January.

 

For me he's no better or worse than O'Donnell. I think too many fans are blinded because he's a nice guy and his kids still come to VP. I'd rather we kept O'Donnell or if he leaves then we start fresh.

 

O'Donnell has played behind the worst defence i can remember at Valley Parade, Doyle had the luxury of playing in a well drilled unit. Not much difference between them if any.

 

Not at all your telling me something I'm not aware of, I think he is overall a better keeper than either O'Donnell or Wilson.

 

Fair enough bronco, but I know lots are of that opinion.

 

I'm happy with O'Donnell, he's come away from this season with a lot of criticism, but he's more than good enough for L2.

At Lg 2 level, I'd have Colin Doyle back in a flash. Big unit, latter days at City really started to command his defense.

 

We've let Wilson go so we need another keeper, Doyle didn't want to leave so make him a similar offer to what we gave Wilson Doyle may want to come home and be with his family, and it would be good competition for both keepers, I thought at times last season with Wilson as back up O'Donnell thought he only had to turn up to play.

 

I don't think we'll get Doyle for the same deal as Wilson.

Wilson doesn't have anything like the experience or first team football Doyle has.

Regardless, Wilson looked all right in the end, so says something that he didn't get a look in.

Unless O'Donnell moves on, I'd rather see us sign another 'number two' rather than direct competition - money can be spent more urgently elsewhere.

 

The Welsh Messi is available. Not sure we need him but he’s available.

 

A question, did Doyle play under bower at Blackpool or did we sign him before bowyer got the job there?

 

Bowyer joined Blackpool on June 1, 2016.

Doyle left on July 12 after we triggered a release clause.

So no, he won't have played a competitive match, and was injured for the last half of the previous season anyway.

 

Or McBurnie is going to be sold for 20m

 

He was a damm sight more reliable than O’Donnell

 

No, the defence was more reliable therefore Doyle had much less to do.
