All depends on who we get rid of.
Our Defense has to be priority surly, we need a very good CB.
Other than that we have a lot of players on our books. Scannel, Mellor, Doyle, Akpan, McCarten should all do really well if we keep them and if not it should reduce our wage bill by quite a bit.
Still have the missing Reeves, Robinson on our books and Gibson, Corville, Connor Wood, O’Connor and Anderson who I think will do ok and possibly better given the chance.
There skill is there I think, the problem is does GB think the passion is there.
We will see. The first 5 of them players I mentioned are all proven players though and we should be able to build a good team around them.
We need to be more positive.

    Agree totally.

Have the WOAP rumours of new signings imminent gone do you think with the talk of players wanting too much?

Bowyer wanted most of his squad in place by preseason training

In all honesty I don't think there ever were any imminent signings. I think the club fed WOAP info which as fans we wanted to hear. Everything from bowyer seems as if we've got nowhere with any targets.

If Rupp is coming over then we could expect the budget to be finalised. He will be talking to Julian and G.B hopefully they can persuade him to part with a little more.

If bowyer doesn’t know his budget yet, we are in trouble

The season finished last week yes there is probably a ball park figure but I doubt it is finalised yet.

I would hope he does as that was the reason he walked at Blackpool.

I would sincerely hope it is finalised. if it isn't it's not only very negligent it would leave us already playing catch up with the rest of the league.

I would think a figure has already been finalised but as an earlier poster has pointed out, the unknown is probably which of our stars is(are) too good for league 2 and going to join one of the multitude of clubs queuing up for them.

Either the club pays the going rate,

...................Or gets left at the starting gate!

Will become self evident when June and July come around.

    True.

I can only see Doyle being able to attract interest personally. Scored goals at Chesterfield, Cardiff, Oldham and not a bad amount for us in a dire City side last year. Still got a few good years in him. The sticking point would be a fee. Would anyone want to pay cash for him as you'd be looking at a top League 2 or well off League 1 club matching the wages Edin paid him. If he's on £5k as rumours have suggested thats £250k a year even before we talking about a fee.....if you were Doyle you wouldn't accept a penny less than what he's on here, you just sit tight and keep collecting.

Scannell undoubtedly has the ability but no one is going to take him on the wages we are paying, given his injury history.

Riley, Akpan and Wright haven't a hope in hell of moving on unless they are told they aren't part of the plans and terminate their deals by mutual consent?

    This is the key thing.

the club knew who'd be under contract, who they want rid of, and who is likely to have takers - they knew we'd need to massively overhaul the squad when the season tickets were launched. they also knew we'd more than likely be in League Two.

they have to do this overhaul and not on the cheap picking up has beens/never weres/rejects. at this point it isn't good enough to start whinging that we can't compete with Fylde or that we've got Scannell and Doyle under contract. find the money and do the deals.

Someone mentioned Anderson being in the squad next season. Has this been confirmed yet?

I know Bowyer was hoping to keep Colville, Devine, and Anderson, but have they agreed to sign yet? If money is tight and we are cutting cloth accordingly, there’s no guarantee they will sign the deals on offer

I suspect those who have been offered contracts will understandably want to listen to other offers before making a decision - the case for all players.

However, I expect all three to sign by the end of next week.

What makes you say that though? I think the majority agree we need to cut our cloth accordingly and the days of over-paid salaries have gone. So why won’t they look elsewhere and move on? I can see Devine rocking up at somewhere like Lincoln and Colville to go to Rochdale or Stanley. Even Anderson could stay in L1 at somewhere such as Bury

Because they have hardly set the world alight in a team that has just been relegated from L1.

Colville and Devine are still unproven, at any level. Anderson had limited opportunities following his departure from Doncaster - so what’s changed over the past few months, other than having a relegation on his CV.

With all of that being said, circumstance and geographical convenience will come into play for two of them - and I believe Anderson quite likes it here working under GB.

If the club can make a marquee signing the first one, this could raise a few eyebrows and attract other players who may look and think we’re going for it. If we can show we only intend to be in this league for a season, it might be enough to attract ones who might not have given us a second thought.

If the first signing into the club is a 35 year old freebie from Macclesfield then forget it. Only joking but you know what I mean.
