We’re still not sure if Drury is staying, but he’s been around long enough to have an input. Whatever he’s saying or doing isn’t working, so it’s time he moved on.

Would be nice to clear the decks.

If we can’t clear the players at least give them some new ideas, with a new voice.

 

what have you read about him that you don't like? which coaching sessions have you observed that have led you to believe that he is a bad coach?

 

I know this is a bit far out and totally unlikely. It certainly doesn't fit in with our latest witch-hunt, moan about everything obsessives but, maybe the bloke didn't want to stay. Maybe he didn't like the commute and felt it wasn't worth it.

 

Well that's worrying considering he's in football and moving about & travelling is part of the gig.

And the point is no one on these boards knows either, but have decided he's definitely crap

It could just be that Bowyer thinks that money is best spent on players. But of course the truth is he's been forced to get rid of him because, er, it suits the negative vibe

Then he needs to coach.... but let’s give him the reserves/u23 players first and see if he can help bring them on before fast-tracking him to assistant manager. Did we learn nothing from last Summer?

 

But he’s not just a coach is he? It looks like he may be the no2 for Bowyer and if that is the case, it’s a mistake. He held the same role under Collins and again under Hopkin.

Would you class either spell a success? I’ve not seen any sign of any player improve under him as coach/assistant

 

Hang on mate. We’ve already seen one member of the coaching staff leave and now Bowyer’s right-hand man. The person he brought to the club. Why would he now be happy to bin him off? And why hasn’t Drury reverted back to the role he joined City for?

If we are to replace the two to leave, wouldn’t the club have added this to their statement?

 

I believe it’s possible that Rupp/Rhodes has said you can keep Drury and release Todd and add another £200k to your budget, or we can offer Todd another deal, but it reduces the amount you have to spend on your team.

Same goes for McElhone, who won’t have been paid pittance.

 

Todd wasn’t his no2 at Blackburn or Blackpool though. As @Bronco has already pointed out, his assistant was McPhillips (current Blackpool manager).

 

Is finishing bottom of the league with one of our lowest points totals ever not evidence enough? No one should survive last season if that was the outcome

 

Problem is we’ve heard all that before and it’s come back we got rid for one reason or another in this last season or so. Can see why fans are rightly frustrated with this

 

It could just be that bowyer brought in Todd till the end of the season, want to bring in another number 2 and his own coaching team. The fact drury is still here means nothing. He might be on his way out, along with some of the contracted players. Just gonna need to wait and see what transpires.

 

As of yet I dont think Terry McPhillips has got the Blackpool job, if he hasnt he will still be on his 12 month rolling contract, maybe Bowyer is awaiting the outcome, aren't Blackpool being taken over and all that goes with a new owner ?.
