My guess is that returning from a fractured back or whatever he had is more difficult/troublesome in a professional footballer than a non athlete person.

 

I think for whatever reason there is a difference between what the medical team think and Scannell. I would be inclined to get a Specialist Consultant on the case. As we have been receiving conflicting messages since Christmas.

 

he's been out 6 months, and been "two weeks away" for about 4 of those. he's shirking his professional responsibility, just the same as Reeves and I'm sick of it. rip his contract up.

I'm no medical expert, RT ......... But 'back' injuries are renowned for being 'difficult'.
Like ankle injuries - Once fecked ....... always screwed, it doesn't take much !! (personal experiences.)

 

This "two weeks away" has come about because the club has no idea how to communicate with fans. The manager says one thing and then the club say another, its amateurish.

 

That would be fine. no one would be accusing him of swinging the lead, as it were if they just came out and said Scannell's got a serious back injury that hasn't cleared up as they expected, and as a result he faces longer out of action.

but they don't. he's 'in contention' every other week. then the next week he's 'no nearer'.

 

Bert Traumann broke his neck, didn't stop him from playing.

I dread to think the wasted wages on Scannell reeves Riley and wright, and the players we turned away because we wouldn’t pay what they wanted. Bet they are on around 15k a week between them easily

Fair point Ron, Parker keeps asking the question which is par for the course. The replies are from the ‘Jake Reeves’ book of communication. Hopefully next season will see a club run properly from the top down, a professionally run business.

 

McCardle would definitely have played with a broken back!!

Its not him that says he's 2 weeks away its the communication from the club.

When a player has had so many serious injuries he has had it must be a physiological thing. His game is based on pace and power and he needs to have confidence in himself that his body can take it. It’s a great pity because a fit Scannell would have been a great benefit for us

 

FWIW .......... I am still in regular touch with 7 ex Army blokes aged between 58 and 66 ........
All of us suffer from at least one of the following .............
Backs, Ankles, Knees and Lungs. Two are now house bound and three of us rely on 'motor scoots'.
Over use your body, without treatment or care and it WILL eventually 'kick back'.

Edit ........... One of the seven passed away last month. Although not a football fan, a Shipley lad all the same. He suffered immensely with back trouble for 25+ years.
