I have asked before, so I’ll ask you this time. When you say “shop out those he doesn’t want and bring in shed loads of new players, usually at considerable cost”, where is the evidence to back this up? In transfers alone, he made profits for both Crawley and Rotherham. It was alleged that his budgets in those leagues were high, but not one person has backed this up with any evidence.

Other than that, I wouldn’t want him at my club either

How can anyone that has decent morals about them want a man in charge that has previous for flashing a member of staff? I love City but don't sell your morals to employ a toe rag who may or may not keep us up, it's a game of football.

The hypocrisy on here is breathtaking. This (man) has exposed himself to a member of our staff, and we are supposed to put it to one side, and accept a mediocre manager because we are angry at the players, and this bully will knock some sense into them. Unbelievable! If it was your daughter or wife what then?

We now have pick and mix morals and standards to fit whatever we want.

You have just heard from a fan at Mansfield @Carole@Carole telling what a complete and utter waste of space he is as a manager, and how he wasted money on players that were not good enough then buggered off!! Who does that remind you of??

Depending on how incontrovertible you want the evidence to be, this article tells you Evans had top six budgets (League Two) at Rotherham, Crawley and Mansfield:

    https://www.chad.co.uk/sport/football/mansfield-town/evans-expects-a-top-six-budget-at-stags-this-summer-1-8527455

“We need a top six budget or in reality there is no point in me staying."

Steve Evans' own words - the guy is shrewd, unlike Hopkin, he isn't going to take a job with naff all money, much less stick around when the wallet looks like closing.

He effectively dropped a division to leave Crawley and join Rotherham, why? Rotherham offered a bigger budget.

He left Mansfield having failed to make the most of a very considerable budget to join Peterborough, where he failed to make the most of a very considerable budget.

It's Evans' right to negotiate with high-spending clubs, more power to him, it provides a greater chance of success - but let's not pretend it's a mystery or a secret that he demands clubs spend beyond their means or he'll leave. He's been caught out once (Boston), and very nearly twice (Crawley).

Whilst some of that may be interesting, some is just bizarre.

Firstly, this doesn’t capture net spend, only the amount he has spent. As I said before, he earned money at Crawley on transfer fees and whilst he may have had large wage budgets (top6 doesn’t actually say what this amount is), he had a fantastic cup run, ending in a 5th round FA cup defeat at Old Trafford. I’m sure that would have paid for a ‘splurge’ in the wages available?

And then you ask strange questions like, why would he leave Crawley (ave gates of 2.5k) to join Rotherham? I think his subsequent success shows that he was right to think there was more promise at Rotherham.

He left Mansfield in February 2018, just 2pts outside the automatic promotion places, in 5th. Hardly “failing to make the most of a very considerable budget” (allegedly). Why did he leave? Because he had been approached to take the job at a club higher up and a better chance of getting into the Championship.

You then claim he aimed there. Did you suggest McCall had failed in his second season? Posh were 6th and only 9pts behind 2nd place when he got the sack. Again, I’d argue that this wasn’t a failure and replicates the harsh treatment of managers when in the top6. We only have to look at our own fortunes since we did exactly the same with McCall

So it is acceptable to be done for fraud and willy waving in football then? Morals these days.

Quite obviously it’s not and is unacceptable in any industry, not just football. My post wasnt excusing any of his previous actions, it was a pure footballing prospective and along the lines that there are much worse candidates available for this role and equipped to get us out of the deep sh*t we’re in.

Ok so based on experience, availability and financial realities of coming to a club odds on to get relegated and already over spent, who??

I’m not saying Evans is 100% the right candidate, just we could do a hell of a lot worse.

I wouldn't want Evans as manager solely for the reason that he isn't very good. I couldn't care less about his behaviour if he came here and kept us up though.

Most of those who would refuse to watch us under Evans were happy to watch us under Rahic. The same Rahic who was a bully, a control freak and ended up destroying us.

Not nasty old Evans though, I'm far too principled for that.

Where do your morals start and end? We've had players at the club who've done worse than wave their willy about.

Yes, but the manager is supposed to set an example, not be an uncouth bully.
I cannot for one minute imagine Rhodes even considering him. Rhodes likes us to be known as a close knit family club, appointing him would bring about even more divisions between fans and the club.

Straw poll with family and work colleagues, who are all intending renewing ST's, no matter which league we are in next season, have all said they will not attend under him

I don't particularly like his antics on the touchline and he's been fired from his last two jobs despite good budgets, i'm just curious as to where peoples morals start and stop? If you jump on the moral high horse it usually hurts when you fall off. I can understand fans not liking his demeanour but throwing the word 'morals' into football is laughable. Not aimed at you btw.

Let's go the whole hog. Evans as manager. New owner, Owen Oyston or Philip Green. We need a winger, Adam Johnson gets out soon. Cardinal George Pell for club chaplain.

If we are talking budgets you can’t use cup runs and player sales as a way of saying, well he didn’t spend too much.

They don’t happen very often and should be an added bonus. Point being if he came to city full time, judging by what @JonButterfield@JonButterfield has posted, he is going to want a very competitive budget before anything else. In your view he has to get far in the cups and then sell players to balance the books and it will be ok?

Let’s face it, he needs money and lots of it to start off with. He signs a lot of players and probably uses the same agents to get some dodgy deals on the go too

Drastically over the top, but get your point.

Fact is, despite our thoughts an Evans appointment is highly unlikely. Recent history of senior club members who divide supporters proves it doesn’t end well. Given our position I’d be extremely surprised if this were to happen.

Surely Paudie O’Connor should be tried at centre back now.
