Good point. That is a bit of a disappointment but from what has been said it might be more about Ball and Rotherham not being able to agree on a settlement

If you read the T&A this morning. The club are now admitting that we are overspent to the tune of £2 million. Rupp is funding this, but the club didn’t want to add to this, so hence our pragmatic signings. Making sure that we move players on, obviously we haven’t be able to move on some of our most expensive contracts. We have more players we can use but it is not as comprehensive as we wanted. However, on the plus side we have recruited committed players with strong links to City, and that is the exactly what we need in the battle ahead.

No point in whinging and moaning about what we haven’t got. As you can see by our Sunderland visitor who has come to tell us how well off they are, you need plenty of money to go shopping in January. It still doesn’t guarantee promotion. We have often had a makeshift team, think 2013, but the heart and spirit of that team carried us to promotion.

So fellow Bantams onwards and upwards, our priority is survival.

 

I would have thought that the £2M reported overspend is mainly due to managerial pay offs including Rahic. It would be nice to understand what the playing percentage is.

 

I think that is very likely but you could argue it would have been wiser to use the money being spent on wages for the likes of Anderson and Clarke to meet that settlement figure. Ball is going to be a free agent in the summer and I am seriously worried we will lose him as he will have plenty of admirers.

Excuses, excuses, excuses!

The signings over all are poor.

If we go down we will be losing more than 2m plus we it's highly unlikely we will be signing Ball.

Signing Billy Clarke now is one of the most pointless signings in football.

He has a fantastic record, but so did Charles Wyke.

 

So what are you going to do then? Keep moaning?

 

Maybe financially we have him till the end of the season so buying him and paying full wages was not an option.We could buy him in the summer but the downside is someone else could.

It's all about staying in this league and seeing what transpires in the summer ref ownership etc.

 

Stop trying to make lame excuses.

It's a football club. Most football clubs make a loss. It's not a profit making business over all.

2m is nothing taking into consideration how much we lose if we we go down.

You talk about Sunderland having money but surely that should inspire the club to want to be in the Championship as that is where the club can earn more money.

In life you don't accept excuses as if you do the excuses will keep coming!

Bradford City football club really do need to start showing some ambition! Hopefully, no excuses in the summer if we stay up!

League position won't have helped either.

The only way to attract good players to a team in the relegation spots is to pay them over the odds wages and/or, if they're older players, offer them long secure contracts.

We are clearly not in the business of doing either of those, having failed to get the likes of Riley and Wright off the books. We let Jim O'Brien go because he wanted a longer contract.

I'm quite sure that Hopkin had all kinds of different options lined up but was either outbid or the players he wanted weren't prepared to come here.

Rahic has screwed us and the effects will be felt for a long time. Rupp has put his hand in his pocket for running costs to keep us afloat in the short term, but clearly hasn't been prepared to gift us the big sums needed to seriously improve the squad, which suggests to me that he wants out.

 

He's not on loan.

 

As fordy alludes to, debt itself isn't a problem to a football club, especially one that is working to a long term strategy, for instance ground improvements or a policy of wanting to progress your ambitions. Where it does become a problem is when this revenue is given to a complete f*ckwit who will not listen to advice from people who seen the videos and worn the t shirts. £2 million in the grand scheme of things isn't a lot but is when you've spunked it on the likes of Josh Wright.

 

If you treat a football club like a true business then you get nowhere.

As I have said it's a loss making business.

I've a merc and everyday it's losing me money but like all car owners we know cars are loss makers. Owners who own football clubs should also know that's the case with football clubs.

Do you also know that most football owners have other businesses that generate them money and owning a football club is to help their business portfolio.

You also realise in business they're things like good debt. Think Man Utd who are covered in debt.

Stop making excuses! The club won't improve or move forward on excuses!

Or Edin spending money on other things that the money had been nominated to be used for, I have been as critical as most why Stefan didnt act sooner, lets just point out if it had not been for several Bradford City fans/people getting in touch with Stefan when they did we could have been in a far worse situation.
