DH got to try make the club appealing when 2nd bottom of the league. The likes of Payne staying should help, but i'm guessing we'll be paying over the odds also on wages and bonuses on these new recruits/targets.

 

I agree but it has to be a calculated risk. We may end up paying more than the market value but survival in this league is paramount and therefore it has to be worth the risk. We go down and Mr Rupp's investment will plummet in value

 

I completely agree with that, but its persuading the player to join. Would he want to join on a permanent at the risk of relegation and the risk of diminishing his career? So many agents will be in DH's ear and the recruits ears, DH and the people working to get these deals done will be working ever so hard, I don't argue with that. I just think players will turn us down due to our position. We have to play Wycombe, Fleetwood, Plymouth, Walsall in February. In March we have, Portsmouth, Peterborough, Luton, Oxford, Blackpool, Charlton. - These targets will be looking at these fixtures and perhaps not fancying the fight. Lets see though. I'm confident DH will get the right players in before the window is shut.

 

Agreed on all points. We'll simply have to wait and see. One thing is for certain, whoever comes in better be fit to start and in the right frame of mind for a scrap as it wont be anything else for the next 3 n a bit months

I think that is the key point surrounding all of this - I was also told there is quite a bit of frustration they have not been able to 'offload' at least one of the higher earners who doesn't fit DH plans

 

Reasonable to suggest recent recruitment (and anything rest of this month) is geared at survival. Then, clear the decks as much as possible in summer and rebuild. In a nutshell, only expecting a couple more short term (end of season) deals either way.

 

If they don't fancy the fight ahead I prefer them not to join, we have enough players who don't fancy the challenge ahead already.

Most of our 2012/13, glory season squad, were bought late or certainly later than others clubs

Last season Bury bought all their players early and got relegated. We dealt early this season (summer window) as well, certainly earlier than normal - i'd argue it was our worst summer window since before the Parky days
