Well I agree, but actually I thought Oztumer really suffered quite badly from an early tackle that clearly hurt him.

He scored a close range header, and floated in some free kicks, but I think unfortunately for him the knock beat the stuffing out of him. He tried to pull the strings, and clearly had the sense of responsibility from his team mates, but it wasn't ideal.

Might not happen by tomorrow (which was a bit tongue in cheek anyway) but when I posted message below earlier in the week but I got comments 'no chance of this happening' and even pics of flying pigs - but perhaps some of it was not quite as wide of the mark ;-)

    By Friday this week:

SG offered and takes the job on a 2 year contract. Says he is satisfied that whilst the budget isnt everything he wanted he can work with it and is confident of success. Says he will start on sorting current players and potential new recruits straight after final game at Scunthorpe tomorrow - next year it will be his team and he will stand or fall based on its achievements

Edin makes a statement that he accepts mistakes have been made and the season has not gone as he and Rupp hoped - but they have learned big lessons and they want to confirm they are here for the long haul and are committed to success at Bradford City. He also confirms work on the pitch has already started and it would be rectified once and for all. And possibly an extension of the season ticket offer.

Is this really that far fetched and impossible to achieve?

Hope the work hasn't started already on the pitch. As far as I know there are games booked on there until May 12th

You obviously wasn’t at the Portsmouth game where we played much better than Wallsall and beat a team in good form bettered only by the Home match against Oxford

    Shut it Plymouth boy.

We'll lose because Grayson isn't the manager he was.

Portsmouth were one of the worst teams i've seen at Valley Parade, just a bunch of workmanlike cloggers. Yes i was there, thought it was a typical mid table mediocrity level 1 game of football. Oxford were the worst team i'd seen at Valley Parade this season, completely clueless for most of the match yet had us hanging on at the end. You can tell not a lot has impressed me this season.

Some of the link up play with McCarten Wyke and Taylor was a joy to watch that night.
Portsmouth was different your right it was a physical battle and their centre backs were praying for full time and that is sometimes needed in this league

My starting choice upfront if they are still here next season would be Wyke and McCartan. I had enough of watching the battering ram approach under Parky, its not a system i favour watching. Good teams will out play you football wise just like Blackburn and Wigan have this season. no coincidence they have gone up playing the best football in the division.

It helps when they have triple the budgets of the others.

No coincidence they have by far outspent everyone else TBF. Everyone else has been also-rans and the quality of football has been what it is, 3rd division.

fair point, doesn't mean you can't play good attacking football just because you haven't spent as much as them. I'll be honest Nick the prospect of Wyke and Bruenker upfront does nothing for me at all.

You can play beautiful football if your funds are relatively limitless ;)

Blackburn and Wigan aren't good yardsticks, and neither will Sunderland be.

Not disagreeing with you but I think you have to be realistic. FWIW I don't think that will be our front two next season.

If we sign one quality target man to compete with Wyke and one or two smaller, more mobile strikers to feed off him, Brunker should realistically be fifth choice.

If he's closer to the starting line up than that, it yet again represents poor recruitment.

Yeah i know we have to play to our strengths but we should look at the likes of Blackburn and Wigan and use their performances as a yardstick as to where we want to be next season. You have to aim high. I keep hearing on here its not the money its what you do with it. Well set your standards high for a start.

I'd be surprised if we sign 3 more strikers.

Last season we signed Poleon, McCartan, Patrick, Taylor, Brunker, and Grodowski, in addition to Wyke and Jones.

While they will probably retain Patrick, McCartan, Brunker, Grodowski and Wyke, if we can shift Jones and Poleon in addition to the now-departed Taylor, there's a chance we replace all three. Realistically, Grodowski and Patrick need to go out on loan, so there's actually plenty of space; but the stupid development squad has and could remain a hindrance.

For me, the illustration of the number of strikers we've had on our books this season shows how pathetic our squad control and recruitment system has been.

Out of all those forwards, the only one we need is Wyke. The rest, for me, all need to improve massively.

Surely he has got to be chalked up to "it didn't work out, better luck next time".

He's been here 18 months and barely played a game a month.
