Restaurants and stuff

That's a shame, went a couple of months ago and it was really good.

 

Never been but I am surprised as I pass it every weekend and it's car park is so busy that's what puts me off trying it!

 

Is there another proper Italian in the centre?

 

We went last year. Absolutely rammed, but I wasn't a big fan. Food was old-school bland.

 

Can't think of one.

 

The function room is registered for weddings so maybe they are planning to go that way

 

I live about four minutes walk from the Halfway House. My daughter worked as front of house there about ten years ago.
I've always found the drinks to be very expensive and the food to be pretty boring pub chain stuff.

 

I remember it when it was a Big Steak Pub with a Wacky. I ran the Hare & Hounds at Menston at the time and yep the food was all mass produced.

 

What day/time did you go and how many people were in the complex? I think that their outlay has been minimal, the oven can go anyhwere, so it's worth a go. I will go down nest Staurday and give it a try.

 

Visited Classic Persian with a party of 15 people. Sat upstairs, so not too busy.
Agree good portions, very friendly service and we'll also return.
Definitely recommend!

 

I've been twice and disappointed both times. Won't go back again.
I'm not a pizza lover so opted for pasta dish, then a fish choice. Not impressed.
Others in our party commented that the pizzas were 'ok'

My wife and I ate at San Carlo, South Parade, Leeds last night. We really liked it. Good decor/ambience, excellent service and cracking food.
We shared calamari and burrata melanzani starters - both very tasty. We both had the tonno siciliana main. Bloody gorgeous - probably the best tuna loin I've ever eaten. I had tiramisu for pud and we both had coffees. With a bottle of Nero Davola it came to £101-26 including 10% service charge.
We'll definitely be going back there again. Good to see an Italian (Sicilian) that has wider choice than the usual stuff and specialises in fish, which we both love.

 

Went to Aldo's yesterday, 10 of us and had a great afternoon. Food was very good, again. Everyone had a good meal and was reasonable price too.

2 for 1 on pizza/pasta in Jan too.

 

Agree. The food has been excellent whenever I have been, but same as the Bar and Grill and the Flying Pizza it does tend to attract more than it's fair share of "look at me" nobs. Does make for great people watching though and adds to the evening.

 

Big fan of the San Carlo pizza although it's about 3 years since I had one.

 

That's worth knowing.
Unlikely I'd ever have a pizza there (much as I love good pizza) with all that lovely fish and seafood on offer, but others who accompany me might well do so.

 

This was before the 'authentic neopolitan' craze hit so it may have fallen down the pecking order now but I recall being v impressed.

I was invited for a meal at the sibling Flying Pizza restaurant to include an interview with the elderly San Carlo group owner, which had a worrying air of 'an offer i couldn't refuse' about it. I made my excuses and swerved that one...

 

Good call. No one wants to be beholden to a Sicilian!
