Perhaps with these officials (?) today all of the keeper needs to be over the line for it to count...?

 

I agree it's over the line. I wouldn't bet my life on it though in real time so understand where the officials were coming from on this one.

 

Maybe. That probably depends on the angle and picture quality though and to some extent I think McLaughlins arm movement and yellow gloves made it look like he'd pulled the ball back from much deeper into the goal.

As I said originally I just can't get outraged when the ball is cms over the line for a split second and the officials are 30/40 yards away.

It's just a marginal call, you win some you lose some, people talking about it being feet, yards, miles over the line and reporting the officials are expecting an unrealistic level of decision making.

 

In my view, in real time it was even more clear cut. Every single commentator said it was over. If we can see that, then there is no excuse. Obviously you are entitled to your beneficial view of officials, but I don’t share it. It wasn’t the first mistake either, if the limo was in position he would have seen the whole ball over.

 

It was a clear goal and the lino and ref bottled it. They should be demoted immediately and never allowed to officiate in a game of such magnitude ever again.

Still maintain this league is weakest in years and it’s a travesty after our start we have been robbed of a good season. It’s very weak with no real quality.

 

I see what you're saying but the fact it looked so far over from the camera angle was obviously an optical illusion in retrospect and may not have been replicated from the linesman angle.

Regardless of how it looked on screen it was an inch at most over the line and it happened quickly. Its not a beneficial view of officials, it's just a realistic acknowledgement that human error can occur when you're dealing with such very fine margins.

That legitimately should have been Power's FOURTH red card this season - what a liability that lad is, really don't rate him. Looked like he had bags of potential a few years back, but he now appears to be a clumsy hack who's becoming less and less of a goal threat every season.

 

It actually crosses the line twice, and it's bewildering that neither clown saw it - I was absolutely adamant it went over the line, and I was an entire stadium away from the incident. When I saw the replay on a lad's phone nearby, I was incensed!

I'm not sure it does cross twice. I think the second time the bit of the ball that is touching the floor is over the line but the upper part of the ball is probably still overhanging it.

If you're telling me that you can tell the difference better an inch in distance from 120 yards away with absolute certainty then I'm sorry but I don't believe you.

I think everyone is obsessing with this 1 still image. In my view, this image is not of the furthest extent that the ball crossed the line. It went much further into the goal than that. I think the picture is after McLoughlin retrieved the ball from further inside the goal. Which is why virtually everybody who saw the goal in real time, be they City players, fans and managers of both sides who were there , radio reporters or TV pundits think there is no question that it was a goal.
