When do we start to question Hopkin?

Practice what you preach then, if it's only the cup why are you allover this thread to stick the boot in when we were losing?

Good game played really well, nothing to be ashamed about losing on penalties to a far better team.

 

Can we maintain tonight's level of performance against lesser teams than Peterborough? I think we can and I think our new assistant coach is going to make a difference.Survival here we come!

Our defending was shocking,doesn't matter who we play if we defend like that.

 

He’s shown he can make us an attacking force with what everyone described as a squad with no strikers.

He’s done that by sighing no strikers and having no wingers and arguably our marquee signing in Scannell not kicking a ball in weeks. Whatever he is doing is working and we seem to be in our groove in that’s respect. Is it 11 goals in 5 games? Before that it took us 12 previous games to reach 11 goals.

We are clearly improving in that respect.

Problem is it’s clear the defence is not good enough no matter what system we try or what personnel we pick. That shows we need reinforcements in and quick to help us out there. Will it come too late? Probably. But I don’t agree sacking Hopkin will solve it

 

We need to politely ask those who believe Hopkin should be sacked to write their names below.
At least we can then look back at these names at the end of the season and have a right good laugh. Name and shame.
Hopkin is going nowhere and City will be playing league 1 football with him as the manager next season.
Some people always find a way to be negative, usually because they are miserable in their own lives!

 

Karl Henry can be released now if that is the level of performace we are getting from him,our defence needs help not a burden.

He was woeful tonight. Lost ball every time didn’t he? Then missed a pen. Akpan played well tbf and should keep his place.

 

Should put O’Donnell back in goal and start the team that started tonight on Saturday.

 

Agree, though I’d start Wood over Chicksen as well, personally.

Akpan is a good player. But he's a big lad. I don't think he's been anywhere near fit this season. Hopefully the new coach we've brought in can whip him into shape.

Agree on Henry - He's been poor. His legs look gone.

 

I agree but the clue in the message is "against lesser teams". Peterborough have some top strikers for this level and quality of defending is directly related( in most cases),to the quality of the opponents attack.

I don't think we will be under that level of pressure against middle lower level teams but,we need to stop conceding so I think we all agree we need to sign some good defenders in Jan as a priority.

 

its not January yet, and performances have improved. goals are going in more regularly - sadly thats the case at both ends. if we sort out defensive performances he'll be doing okay. needs more time.

 

We have a Scottish league based view on defence with a flawed 3 centre back selection that seems to end up with no one defending in front of goal, What could possibly go wrong?
