If Hoppy goes I'd take a punt on Jim O'Brien taking the reins on a temporary basis - stuff the snake, he can go too.

 

I’m a bit on the fence with Abbott, yes the recruitment has been terrible since we reached the play off final, but if he’s giving Edin a list of say 4 players in each position and Edin takes up the 4 choice then this is what we are left with which is out of Abbott’s hands.

Personally I thought if that was the case he would walk away, but I reckon he needs to work as he will not have made a great living out of the game as a player.

The worst thing about the recruitment is just how disjointed the squad is. We have defenders who can’t play the ball out, but then never recruited a target man to play more direct. This baffles me and ultimately this lies with Edin and Abbott at the end of the day.

 

I saw the same messages last night and to be honest I've taken them with a pinch of salt.

That said it wouldn't surprise me (not much would as far as City is concerned at the moment) and I wouldn't blame him in the slightest if he did go. He's walked into the middle of a shitshow and every day he stays around he's damaging his stock massively.

Where does the money come from to pay off collins and hopkin?

Riley is definitely Abbott's signing, he'd been chasing him for ages. If he had as you suggest, prepared a list with 4 options in each position and Edin has chosen the fourth options, what makes you think the third, second and first options would have been any better? I might be being stupid here but if I was putting a wish list of players together, I wouldn't be choosing a great player as option 1, a mediocre player as option 2, a crap player as option 3 and a 'Ive no fecking idea' as option 4. (Options 3 and 4 interchangeable). The only players going on any wish list should be players you would be delighted to sign for Bradford City, if you can't come up with 4 that our budget would allow us to sign, don't fill the list with crap just to make up the numbers.

 

I disagreed with Jon on this, I don't think the current situation impacts on his CV much at all. It was a horrendous (3 coach) run of results before he pitched up, he still has credit from Scotland's & he's just the 4th bloke, but with the worst squad, trying improve results. Everybody in football will know this.

I hope he stays but if he goes it's not going to make any difference to the forthcoming relegation.

 

Hopkin has been a disappointment so far. Playing the same way as Collins. We need results.

I think he will walk if we fail to win or get a positive result at the weekend.

Bradford City is one basket case club with our owners.

We've weak supporters who just want to turn up for a pie.

It's really easy to have an immediate impact, one that will enforce changes, just stop going to VP. If he can ignore 4000 non-renewals and 4000 others not turning up for game they've paid for, then it's time to turn the screw.

 

I don’t disagree just playing devils advocate. I’m not defending the utter garbage recruitment just that if he’s asked to bring a list of players that will accept under £1k per week wages then his hands are tied to an extent. How they’ve recruited the squad however is beyond me as it seems there was no plan of how we were going to play whatsoever. I reckon we could have gained more points already just by having another decent centre half and a decent target man for example.

 

We need to sign Nile Ranger. That guys our only hope

Which are the players that accepted less than 1k a week? The only ones I think are likely are Clare, Isherwood, Wilson, Colville and possibly Jim O'Brien. That doesn't mean the ones earning more are worth it mind you, but I think it is wrong to assume they are all earning peanuts.

If he goes who can blame him must be shit atmosphere at the club at the minute. We need a full clear out of the backroom staff and they need to get a proven manager in who can pick his own players to suit his style of play. Thats the same if Rahic stays or goes

 

Your opening sentences say an awful lot, really. Not really wanting to hark back over Parky's early days - However, although PP could call upon the loan market, he still managed to forge a stubborn mentality into those already at the club. He achieved that by attacking the basics, and ensured everyone understood his instructions. That's all Hopkin needed to replicate ............. BUT NO - He decides to go for a system that few at VP can play, so no surprise there's no change in our results.
