“Context” my friend. Does a 1-0 victory only merit 4s and 5s?

It was a workmanlike performance. Not pretty but effective and we did a job.

 

Most of the games he has started we have won. So how do you make that out

 

Having not bothered to get up at 4:15am to watch the game, I watched Dimitri's vid and I thought as a team the boys played pretty well... Not world beating but a solid effort... Obviously they can be better and we look a much more positive outfit when we play the ball on the floor, but sometimes needs must and the long ball will need to be employed.

Defensively we looked good, a couple of anxious moments but the lads won plenty in the air, weren't bullied and dealt much better with balls in from the wing than in any previous game this year...

Midfield did look much better when Payne came on as there was more play through there and it proves that he can play in a Midfield 4 when he has the supporting players around him ie not Akpan or Wright. Even when JOB went off the switch of O'Connor into the midfield and Wood to left back didn't hinder either midfield or defence.

Up front Miller worked hard and I didn't think that big Brunker did too bad, he's not superstar or even a star but he put himself about a bit and put defenders under pressure allowing for the 2nd ball to be won more by the mids.

Certainly an improvement from previous games and the lads are able to pressure teams for the full game now, instead of allowing masses of space and time due to being unable to get to contests...

On to Sunderland now, a big step up but not impossible... Oh I won't be watching on iFollow again so should be a nailed on win everytime I watch we lose....

 

He's sh1te. If he makes 20 appearances, we will finish in the bottom 6.

 

Close but no cigar, our win ratio is 50% when he starts but the stats since he joined in Jan are incredible:

Kai starts: P6 W3 D2 L1 F7 A4 Pts11

Kai doesn't start: P23 W3 D5 L15 F14 A39 Pts14

The only defeat when he has started was the 0-2 against Southend when he went off injured after 15 minutes.

I'm off to re-evaluate everything I thought I knew about football.

 

How are you attributing those wins to Kai Bruenker? Did he score a few goals? Did he assist any? Perhaps he played a few game changing passes or was immense in the air?

Stats of this nature are meaningless if you can't use it to support your argument

The question remains then why did Hopkin, who sees him everyday so must know how good or bad Bruenker is, choose to play him ahead of Ball. Hopkin out

Because Hopkin wanted to play with a target man and Bruenker is the only one we have. It doesn't mean he's any good.

From what I have heard Onside he is thought to be nowhere near ready for first team duties (although one more injury and he is next in line!) - taking it that the other injured forwards are not what you would class as target men it shows what a b.... up our transfer task force made of things
