York City fans banned from their stadium

    Mental NL season and it looks like it could go to the wire with York and Rochdale fighting for promotion. But before then, some craziness has gone on at York in the last few days.

    Over 50 York fans have been given a banning order, allegedly not by the club but my the stadium owner, York SMC. It's on the back of the fans celebrating a 96th minute winner recently, with the advertising boards being knocked down by celebrating fans. The club had to put out a statement to say they disagree with the banning order and are talking to the stadium owners to have it revoked, but the owner is very vocal on twitter and has said the sooner they get their own stadium, the better.



    But the stadium owners and North Yorks police have said that the owners have published these bans, not them. Sounds like a ridiculous mess, but a win this weekend and a Rochdale draw or defeat could see them promoted at home and now a set of fans wont see it, along with a sour taste in the air around someone either running the club or running the ground telling fibs about the nature of these banning orders.

    York fans online have noted that the boards were poorly installed and have fallen down on their own before.

    The fan holding down the York player was absolutely unacceptable and should receive appropriate action. However the York players who ran the length of the field to celebrate in front of the Rochdale are equally as stupid. You’ve just won promotion and your first thought it to celebrate in front of the opposition players is baffling to me.

    Agree, a lot of unacceptable stuff but the police seem to be looking into it now. Personally I hope the lad who got chinned- if he’s the one who had been holding the York lad down - chooses not to press any charges. The F.A. will almost certainly come down hard on him.

    I would guess it was because those same fans were right in their faces seconds before. How I fully agree. I called out our fans going over to Fleetwood fans last season during the pitch invasion. Just go nuts and enjoy it ffs.

    What a finish to a season. I thought ours was dramatic last season but this beats it. Really hope Rochdale get through the play offs
