Match Thread Wycombe BSM semi final(with Poll)

We just need to learn to play it either in to feet or over the top. Those 4 aren't winning many headers

 

It will be interesting to see what team he picks with Smallwood available for this match. With Smallwood not playing at the weekend and McDonald almost certainly rested with this game in mind I can't see how both don't start.

I think it will be 1 of 2 options

• Go similar to the Wimbledon game and play Gilliead in the front 3 with Kavanagh as the main striker.
• Play Gilliead at LWB with Smallwood and McDonald in the middle then Young for Cook if he is fit to start.

 

Cook is suspended , red card against Doncaster.

 

We do indeed need to strengthen this part of the team,but for Wednesday we are well stocked. Smallwood is available, McDonald was virtually rested on Saturday only playing for part of the 2nd half. I actually think he’ll have Smallwood and McDonald together and move Gilliead to left wingback instead of Ridehalgh.

Yes, Championship teams don't participate in the EFL Trophy at all. The only U21 teams who do are from the Premiership.

Ever since the format of this competition changed to include under 21 teams I haven’t attended a match and won’t be there on Wednesday
I think it’s the premiership way of trying to include under 21s in the foiotball league

 

Yep, reckon it will be option 2. Then with Gillead and Stubbs at Barrow with Macdonald available from the bench, similar to Saturday.

 

Better not be that lineup next Saturday. If so that would say they are giving priority to this mickey mouse cup over league. I think Macdonald plays weds and sat but GA calculated he couldn't make all 3 (inc. Sutton) and that with Sutton being the weakest side giving Stubbs the start there gave the best chance of winning all 3. That would be astute management.

I suspect that for Barrow we may return to Smallwood and Gilliead to start in central midfield if Richards is fit again. Possibly on Wednesday too.

Smallwood's 2nd game of his ban is the Barrow game so he's suspended for it.
