We might have had big German sponsorship lined up until someone posted that Hitler video that may have put a lot of German sponsors off.
It's a good job a similar video with Ratko Mladic isn't doing the rounds that could have screw up any sponsor deals from Bosnia.

So just because JCT agave sponsored us for years we should let them keep doing it for peanuts for ever or maybe we should check at the end of each contract and see if we can get a better deal

Why do you say its peanuts ?.

Surely if we could have got better sponsorship they would have, which then suggestes no maor sponsor was willing to pay more that JCT.

Isnt the stobart thing similar to our original deal (possibly ongoing) in that rather than receiving money from Mitton in lieu of advertising they did remedial work around the club. Im sure they did something in the kop and at one point did some fairly majir work on the pitch

Didn't Dave Baldwin or someone from the club under the last regime get Map in as they paid more than the previous shirt sponsors.

Yep and then they had issues and we went back cap in hand to JCT, due to short notice. They got it on the cheap and then Baldwin had left and it was renewed by the previous owners.

As we don’t know the exact numbers maybe peanuts isn’t fair. But at 40% less than others maybe cheaper is better wording.

I remember the previous owners constantly banging on about how the larger fan base helped increase other revenue. Well if that is true just think how little JCT must have been paying when we were getting 10,000 through the gate rather than 18,000

What would you say was a fair price for shirt sponsorship say over a 3 year period, or is it an annual deal ?.

It was a 3 year deal. Can you imagine the complaints if the shirts changed every year without fail due to change of sponsor

The price would all depend on various things, crowds, coverage, short sales, League.

As for an exact figure who knows.

I'm probably guessing here but I'd say it's a lot less than the £53m Chevrolet pays Man U each season for the next 7 years as their main shirt sponsor!

The number of fans coming through the gate hypothetically could have some sway on the potential price somebody would be willing to pay, but again it all boils down supply and demand. At the end of next season when the deal is up then the emails and phone calls go out to prospective bidders for shirt sponsorship or any other sponsorship that is up for offer. Who ever comes in with the best offer gets their company slapped on the front of the shirt. But it does not matter a jot what another club in the division gets, it's what offers are put on the table at Bradford City. I can't see the marketing department welcome bids in an email but then adding "Don't forget (insert team) get 40% more than we do so please bear that in mind in your offers.

40-50% of a perceived value Is better than 100% of no value be careful what you wish for
If it's true then whoever asked them to pay more was very brave or has something up their sleeve Maybe we should check the product that we are asking people to invest in as well at the end of every season. Am sure that any potential sponsor will be thoroughly checking what benefits they are likely to get before offering any committment? The product was better last year with just being beaten in a Wembley final hopes for this season were high Mid table this season by your argument should be worth less and less companies willing to invest. Poor performances on the pitch leads to lower prices obtainable for sponsorship

It is always good business to compare with similar items. Yes whoever offers the best price will get their name on the shirt. If they leave it till the end of next season to start looking like you suggest then we have missed the boat. If the rumour is true that JCT/Mitton are upset it is due to the negotiations already starting which would make sense as they will want it sorted by Christmas so the short designs can be signed off.

If we end up with no sponsors in 2019/20 then it is bad judgement looking for more. If we have a sponsor and they have paid more then does it matter that JCT are upset just because they have sponsored us in the past.

We will not know until then. We don’t even know that they are upset, it is all rumour. For all we know deals may have been agreed with JCT/Mitton and just awaiting signatures. All rumour.

One thing that isn’t true from the rumours is that JCT have removed their sponsorship from the shirt for next year.
