Likewise, why the hell are we selling tickets now for a game on Easter Monday. It’s getting silly.
I suspect Exeter tickets to be on sale next week.

I've spoken to Wigan's ticket office who confirm the seating is unreserved.The row and seat numbers are just for H & S purposes apparently.
They also state DO NOT take a screenshot of the QR code, the ticket will no longer work if you do.
Also pre download the ticket before you get to the ground, the service around it is useless.

 

Why would that be the case? I've already screenshotted and shared with my group as the tickets weren't transferrable from my wallet.

 

I usually just hand my phone to the turnstile operator to swipe through the tickets.

 

surely taking a screenshot can't alter the code?

I have never heard that one before! The QR codes are versatile. “They only put reserved on the tickets to satisfy H&S” when really they are unreserved. I wonder what would happen in an emergency where they needed names and seats numbers to match?

 

It will be so they can sell the full number of seats. If they sell as unallocated they may be restricted to selling 90% of capacity, this is the case for the Rugby League over there

 

Stramge that they will not accept screenshots but it looks like they will accept print outs. Surely if it is to stop the same ticket trying to be used more than once, ot sold on then they should accept neither

 

4600 is the reduced/90% allocation.

When we went there in the League Cup 2012 we had over 5k in that stand.

I don't know for sure but I would imagine the ticket scanners are linked to a computer program which would invalidate multiple scans.

 

In the days of paper tickets, how would you have got the tickets to your group?

instead of screenshotting the tickets which might cause a problem (I don’t think it does btw), why not just keep them all in your wallet and scan your group in at the turnstile?

 

Because we're not all arriving at the same time.

Though I agree, I doubt there'll be an actual issue. I've never known that to be an issue with any QR code, ever.
