What do we need in January

Wrong he got caught one for pace in the first minute. He made two win saving tackles he is our best defender by a lot

 

Goal every 167 mins in L2 this season and he's been doing it for a while. Donny were in for him in the summer and the deal didn't get doing because Notts wanted load but they have a past of moving guys on with 6-12 months left (Crowley, Bass). I think Jatta moves on in Jan but no idea where too and for how much. Donny bid 500k in the summer and they wanted more, reckon if they bid 500k again in a few weeks they'll snap their hand off.

 

My thinking …He’ll be available and NOT a huge fee. If I were a player like him, wanting a move , which he does as last season showed , a team with a chance or play offs or a team struggling near the bottom ?

 

GA is no a no nonsense manager , hence he’s my shout for many reasons.

 

He was a bit green in defending and was left red faced and feeling blue.

 

I bet it's still in the £500k ball park he goes on for. Notts know they are in a good spot for promotion but they wont want him walking for free. If they can get a good fee for him they'll want it done early and with enough market booster in the bank to replace him and maybe add another piece or two to push for promotion.

I bet there's more than a quarter of L1 clubs that will call them up in Jan, he'll have some options.

 

Cash rarely offends

 

Absolutely , £500,000 is nothing if Mr Rupp is true to his word . The additional attendance figures , I guess even higher than the club forecast pre season , will go a long way in contributing to any fees?

 

Swap him for Cook?

 

They'd laugh us out the door at that offer. Jatta will still command a good 6 figure fee, Andy Cook wont command a penny at his age and contract status, if he goes the club will just pay out his remaining 6 months.

 

If Jatta is trouble then I can’t see him coming here, even though he’s an excellent goalscorer at this level. GA is big on squad togetherness, maximum effort and signing players with good attitudes. Can’t see him signing anyone who is likely to be a disruptive influence.

 

Amongst all the chat on Jatta, does he have the quality of potentially playing at Championship level?

Surely anyone we consider bringing in, for a sizeable fee, would need to have credentials of potentially being able to make the step up? Is Jatta that player?

 

He’s only “trouble” based on a move to Plymouth for big money collapsed when County shafted him ( County forum) and then a moment of madness like Baldwin in one game. To be fair a normal footballer

 

Fair question, that’s a gamble with any player purchase or step up a division for existing squads.

 

I bet someone up the top of L1 takes a chance on him to be that player next month. It all comes down to scouting and money I suppose? Lets face it, 300k/400k fees in L1 these days are fairly average and are considered cheap in the Champ. So money wise it's not a massive gamble for a lot of teams who want to be in the CH.

If the scouting team have enough info and think he'd be worth 18 months or more then it's probably a do-er. Look a QPR, you cant imagine their fans would have been raving at Burrell on paper after dotting around the Scottish Lower leagues and Burton but he made the step up in their system, Kone is coming good too, another who was in the lower ends for a while. Just if they fit what your forward area is planning on doing.

 

Jatta is a strange one to me, I think he's a complete donkey personally but there is no denying his scoring rate at league 2 level. He scored something like 4 goals against us, and all were flukes, either due to keeper error or coming off his backside. Very strange player who I wouldn't personally touch with a barge pole. But with his stats I can see why people would want to.

 

£500k to Town, Luton, Cardiff et al isnt the same £500k to Bradford City.

 

That's where i think the league will be won and lost. We are willing to spend but not to the tune that the others around are. You'd expect Luton to flog a load of cash at it in Jan and you'd see 6 or 7 clubs in the top 12 doing the same with relative ease.

 

L2 to CH is a big jump for someone with 31 goals in 62 L2 games..and £500k I couldnt see us spending. He is 27 in a few weeks so hitting his prime and its not an age to invest in potential ressle value either.

Macauly Langstaff loan would be a better shout. Low risk and having a hard time at Millwall.....think there be alot of L1 looking at him though.
