Once again we were flipped at the kick off last night. It gets on the crowd for 30 seconds, but it's a tactic that every team uses over the season to try disrupt the usual flow that teams like at home. But.... it doesn't really work at VP?

Looking through our home games this season in L1, we've been flipped at KO on 6 occasions out of 22 home games, and in those 6 games, we have 4 wins and 2 draws. In 4 of those 6 flipped games, we scored at the TL Dallas end anyways, the end we aren't supposed to want to attack in the second half. Of the games we didn't score at the TL end, we went into HT winning both games against Barnsley and Rotherham at the break. The only time flipping has gone against us was the second half against Barnsley when they scored in front of the Kop and we failed to find a winner.

Also, it seems this season that we really prefer attacking the TL Dallas end anyway. We've scored in 20 of 22 home games, and we've scored 31 goals. Of those 31, we've only scored 13 infront of the Kop. We seem to be way more clinical infront of the TL than the Kop, so why do teams still think it's going to hinder the game at VP?

Surely teams figure look into this kinda stuff before asking to flip the sides? There doesn't seem much benefit to it so far to me. Does anyone notice a different game when we flip? Or does it get to anyone really? Seems a daft practice if it doesn't work at that ground too often.

I've always thought it to be an odd tactic.

It says way more about the oppositions mentality than anything else for me, they're already showing a weakness if they feel that switching round will genuinely have that much of an impact.

Lol! Good spot! I've even got noted "Cardiff flipped" and still missed it. 7 games from 22 flipped, just one that didnt go our way.

I find it a weird tactic and somewhat unfair on their own fans when they've brought a decent following

GA said for the fans to ignore it. If the fans boo etc the opposition see it as a boost.

well it's become so common now I always feels like if the away team wins the toss they will switch. It makes me tut at worst but I am used to it! Not sure a heavily supported Bolton will switch though if they have opportunity.

It’s been going on for 60+ years to my knowledge , back in the day it was the opposite to what it is now . We always favoured kicking towards the BFD END in the second half . It’s phycological but thereagain ;).
