It's sad that's she's passed away she's one of only 3 royals that I belive actually justifies the life of privilege they enjoy. However I have to say why are we even thinking of cancelling sport for 10 days? I'd understand it on the day of the funeral but other than that I can't see why that needs to happen. Sorry if that offends anyone but we're not in the 18th century anymore

I think we will see just this weekends fixtures postponed out of respect. I doubt the full 10 days will kick in.

6 x Champions league ties have to be completed this side of the world cup and they are already playing back to back fixture as it is, so they will at the very least suggest their hands are tied.

I think one set of fixtures is fair, if it were the full 10 days why not close shops, pubs, restaurants, cinemas, theatres, concerts, etc too. Why would only sport be effected?

 

You heard correctly both requested postponing and UEFA refused. The atmosphere very flat throughout the stadium (FCSB fans excluded). National Anthem sung ad hoc a couple of times, but nobody really seemed up for the game.

 

The decisions are already made regarding media and broadcasting they had a code word 'london bridge is down' and has been in place for 15 years. Not sure sport was included.

 

The madness is us even debating the issue, it's not something we should be potentially falling out over, whatever our differing views might be regarding the Monarchy.

Most of the tv and press output has been prepared and archived for some time, they couldn't have organised what we have had and what's coming since 6.30 last night..

 

As far as pure football for us, the EFL are waiting on the DCMS to make a 'Mourning Statement' which will clarify most things but noticeable many fixtures / events off todayas a result of calls made last night by organising bodies.
As far as I can tell the Club is half expecting Mansfield and Tranmere to be off, then there is the issue of what happens during the 10 days mourning prior to the funeral. That said everyone is in the hands of the Govt. Department DCMS.

 

Yes it’s all made well in advance Tony in “anticipation”. From memory I saw a documentary regarding the same topic that referred to multiple archives made up “ready to go” of important world figures.

 

yep. My mate works in media and we have talked previously about all the protocols in place for it and how everything is updated each month so that the stuff isnt out of date, plus when anything major happens eg they will have updated it after she met the new PM the other day

 

yep some people are actually involved in making their own death coverage
