Aye. I mistakenly left you as a quote from a previous message. Not relevant to what I just posted.

Didn't watch it. I can't recall a season where I've gone into it with such a low expectation as I have this season. Hughesball is the polar opposite of crickets Bazball.

How can an every day fair tackle become foul play warranting a yellow.

Watch the Cafu yellow card for the Rotherham player as a perfect example.

Since when have “ niggly challenges “ become a bookable offence? Multiple times yes, once , it’s football not damn tiddlywinks.

If you want to see football become a complete non contact sport, devoid of fair but robust tackles I think you are on your Tod! .

Ah but he’s still right isn’t he… You cannot hide behind 14 yellows in a non dirty game V zero yellows in another. Please explain that away, you avoided it once ….Try again perhaps?

13 minutes added time at Sunderland.

Admittedly there has been a few injuries and stoppages.

That says it all, when at the start of a new season we should all be optimist with regards new players coming in who can improve us on last seasons finish, its early days and I've seen enough football to know you don't write a team off after one game.
But as I've posted we have Accrington midweek it would normally have been a must go game but I wont be attending, they took Newport to the cleaners yesterday lets hope they don't do the same to us, our record against Stanley is not the best, Saturday won't be the best of occasions if our first home game of a new season we have two defeats behind us, please prove me wrong Sparkie.

Quickly followed by Stockport away, and Morecambe in the Deluded Derek Derby

I’ve watched around 5 games this weekend, including ours and the new rules don’t seem to have anything to do with our ref being card happy. He chose to do that himself and he should be hooked back to non-league

So you don't think players should get booked for preventing a counter attack?

Seen the Cafu one. The ref has bodies in the way and he is clearly guessing on that one. I don't think he could clearly see the point of contact. Admittedly it was a poor decision. I'm pretty sure the ref himself will regret it once he's seen the multi angle replays that we are privy to but that he isn't.

Hopefully the assessor will come down hard on this ref. Probably not though.

I've said this before in other threads. If a player requires treatment on the pitch then call the physio on, but let play carry on like in rugby

Where are the booking stats for the first L2 compared to say the equivalent number of games last season?

It would never work as you'd have players down in the box causing all sorts of issues then what happens if pass or shot hits the physio. Much easier to avoid players in rugby than football. Imagine against Accrington when Stubbs was down in with a head injury in our box how many issues that would create

Only read a few of threads.

In my opinion, football as we knew it has changed and not for the better. Yes, time wasting, feigning injury to disrupt an attack was very frustrating. But, how referees are approaching play this season is ruining free flowing play. At Crawley they soon realised they could fall over and win free kicks. The slightest contact with a player generated a yellow card.

As for added time get used to 20 mins most games. Clubs will need large squads to manage all the accumulated yellow cards towards the back end of the season.

doesn’t matter how a club has improved its team, it’s all down to how the referee performs on the day. The best team are not guaranteed to win.

If it interferes with play then the ref has to blow up, but it happens all over the pitch. Unfortunately also the trait we see now is players feigning a head injury when they have had a tap on the ankle, particularly when the opposition have a counter atacking opportunity
