I don’t think there is an issue here
If someone buys a season ticket and only uses it for a few games . That’s their choice.
We don’t have a waiting list and there’s around 10000 spare seats most games currently
Climb to the championship and it could become more of an issue
One thing I think the club maybe could look at is. On my row the seat next to me has been sold for at least 10 years , but no one has ever sat there. I want to start to bring the grandson, but would have to move seats. Surely now with the barcode entry they will know , if the person has actually attended and maybe sat elsewhere or not been at all. A review on actual attendance of season ticket holders This seat is blocked but permanently empty , whereas I would buy a season ticket for the grandson, I really don’t want to move seats
I have enquired about the seat only to be told it’s sold
I do wonder if this happens elsewhere around the stadium

Shame they can’t arrange a scheme to allow away fans to buy sufficient tickets?

You've just completely contradicted yourself in the same post though Andy. You can't accept that a person has a right to choose whether to attend with their ST or not but also suggest change because it affects your personal situation. It's one or the other.

Would your grandson attend every game or would it end up empty most weeks like a lot of seats? If it's the former then I'm sure you'll get two STs together in a decent area once the seat swaps become live in a few weeks.

A kids season ticket is a great way of reserving a spare seat for the season, then a friend who only wants to go to a few games can use it.

Not really, this seat has never been used, but I have been told for several years over 5 at least, that it is sold to a season ticket holder
I have bought in the past for my wife, and granddaughter on several occasions, ticket's elsewhere in our block and they have just used the seat next to me. The people around me who also want to bring a family member do the same.
It’s just weird I can not purchase a seat that is never used by its supposed owner but is often used by other people

Over the last 5 or 6 years I've got used to knowing that seats around us, despite never been sat in, have been more than likely been snapped up in the way being mentioned. It hasn't affected me in that I've always sat in the same seat despite losing the seat for a couple of years after not renewing in time. My lad has always been able to sit next to me despite living away for 3 years and not having a season ticket during that time.

So, despite your first post, it's not really a person's choice if they use the seat or not and they should lose the renewal option regardless of them buying a season ticket for that seat for the last 10 or so years?

That's where you're contradicting yourself. You either support the seats going back into open sale when not used or you don't. You can't just have the odd seat doing it because it's convenient for you.

I've done it with my kids and friends in my group over the years. We all sit together despite not all of us having tickets on the same row. It's easy to resolve without this nonsense of the club not allowing the renewal of tickets.

No as I said, if someone buys a season ticket and only attends the odd game that’s fine with me
But as I stated this seat has never been used by its intended occupant. I have had my current seat in this block for at least 10 years
Why purchase if you don’t attend ever or choose to sit elsewhere.
I find that quite odd and as I also said, I have bought other seats in our block for family members or friends, who just sit next to me on the match day, but I am not willing to risk this with my 5 year old grandson and I really don’t want to move seats if possible
If whoever buys this ticket is not attending or choosing to sit elsewhere, then I find that kind of seat blocking selfish
I would purchase it and it would be used every match not left empty for 23 league games every season
As I also said, with the barcode system the club know if you attend games, do you not get 20 points added to your account as you enter
What they don’t know is if you are actually sat in your own seat
Well this one is always empty and there are dozens of witnesses to prove that, but when I have spoken with the ticket office, I get the same response it’s sold

We simply don't have the demand to make it a problem. I've bought my lad what apparently was the last ticket available in block C for the last game but my lad will be sat next to me, he will even have his choice of empty seats.

Perhaps the person has the same issue as you and bought that seat so he can attend but sits with family instead.

    Maybe
Some kind of review mid season could be the answer with a view to helping fans with possible issues, changes for the following season

Whilst we have circa 24,000 capacity and there isn’t a waiting list for seasons non of this matters tbh. There are more ways to skin a cat as they say!

Me and the grandson went to Goodison (I wanted to go again before they move) and he bought two tickets through the club who as you say resell them on rather than he having them empty.
I had a word with the guy sat next to us he said it's a regular thing to see different faces sat in those seats, that is abuse for me the grandson wouldn't tell me what he'd paid but listening to the guy sat next to us he said the original season ticket holder (depending on the opposition) could actually make money on his two seats now that's got to be wrong.

I can go down steps really well but climbing up them is painful. We do use the lift coming up but go down the stairs if the lift is full. It is those huge steps in the stadium that are the worst. So I think I will investigate going down the steps when going out of the stadium. When we were being shown by Mick lamb we came through the reception area and took the lift up, so we were looking up to our seats. I am hoping we can use that lift.

I wasn't aware there were two lifts, but as you say that won't get you around the deep steps situation both down and up to your seats.

I am fine going down them. I think the staff use the hidden lift. But not really bother going down as long as we can find away way out.

The back rows in the NW Corner have been opened up for the Notts County game, for the Fleetwood game they've opened up the back rows of the NW corner and back row of the Kop top tier.

Looking on the Notts County website they've sold out the 2 blocks in Midland Road and about 50 in the TL Dallas so at the moment they will be on around 1,200. I'd expect them to get to at least 1,500, if they beat Salford tomorrow that will add a few more as it keeps their chances of top 3 alive.
