Threlkeld loan move to Oldham

He's a better defensive midfielder than he is a defender. Think he's been played out of his best position at Morecambe and then with us. Decent footballer who's had far too many brickbats and that's knocked his confidence methinks. I really hope that playing for you guys gives him a new footballing lease of life.

That's so unfair. I'm glad we've moved him on, clearly doesn't have a place in our squad. But he's far better than you make out. The problem he's had with Morecambe and then with us is being played out of his best position, defensive midfield. He's not a full-back.

Well that’s a massive lie. He started, and played for 77 mins. And played bloody well too, on the right side of centre mid which he played at Salford and Plymouth. Then we get him at city, put him at RB and he becomes the latest scapegoat

Did playing out of position somehow affect his ability to give a simple 10 yard pass?

Also, isn't he going to need to be able to tackle if played at DM? Something else he was clearly struggling to do well.

 

That’s not true, I want all new players to succeed, especially those who come with high expectations.
When those expectations are not met however, the scapegoat season starts.
The problem for Oliver so far is that in 5 games I don’t think he’s had a single shot on target, yet Cook and Harratt have come on from the bench and changed games.

Not made Oldham's squad tonight.

It was a statement based on what I believed to be fact. He did not appear on the initial first 11 or bench list prior to kick off, BBC. I thought it likely due to lack of NL clearance rather than choice.

 

Correct when I looked he wasn’t listed to play or as a sub, but then towards the end of the game he appeared on the team sheet
