So we get YOUR interpretation of what gaining experience is. Got ya. Doesn't for one minute suggest that MC is not capable of bucking the trend does it? I know you like to think negatively towards MC cos in your books he just aint a suitable man to carry the job through to success.
But what do you really know?

You suggested that Collins wouldn’t fail because of the quality of players at this disposal. I pointed out that better and more experienced coaches have failed with good squads, so no guarantee that Collins wouldn’t go the same way. You then asked me to explain how players gain experience and so this debate began.

But I haven’t said Collins will fail. TBH none of us know how he will fair in his first major role. So. I ask, why do you keep insinuating that I’m against Collins?

Personally, I'mm pleased we haven't simply appointed someone that simply does the rounds:
Just round the corner, not far away
a once massive club was having to pay
4 of their managers in the same year
not a pittance but a princely sum each
now 10 years on, it still flounders on the beach.

The men on the other hand are still very rich
moving from club to club with hardly a glitch
the premier clubs are happy to pay millions
packets from Sky to them and their pillions
the price for failure sure adds up to billions.

the supporters however, still live in the past
hoping this championship season will be their last
huddling together and telling their stories
of days gone by and all of their glories
the way their club has descended to farce
has left each supporter scratching his rectum

In theory yes, but in my mind sales involves targets and we don't set ourselves any targets because our advice is so good people come back to us simply because we haven't "done a sales job" on them.

IN practise in a product was wrong I'd get in bother for giving wrong advice but no-one could ever say I co-erced them into a product. If what they think they want differs from what I recommend, and they ultimately don't agree with the advice then I "arrange" what they want rather than changing my advice, and it becomes non advised.

 

Its good that you are not against MC. I hope that people will stop referring to his lack of experience and concentrate more on his ability which we can all evaluate as the season progresses.
I still believe that a talented coach can positively affect a team without having years of experience behind him. Just look at some of the 'experienced' managerial dross still doing the rounds year after year in the lower leagues.

He seems to have things the way he wants them. Pre-season's always bollox but he seems happy with the progression and knitting the team together, so I don't get phased at whoever they sling out it's always a gazillion subs etc. Carlisle tomorrow will perhaps be the first real test f he decides to put a team out so that might make that result a tad more interesting.

So a different approach good !
