Aberdeen management, coaches and board rate O'Connor as they offered him terms to stay. I would probably ignore a few prickly internet fans as your source for scouting a player before he has kicked a ball for us.

My person opinion is he was at Bayern so he must have 'something' about him and it is up to our coaching team to unlock that and improve on it. While true, Raeder was at Bayern we didn't directly sign him from Bayern.

On paper, looks like he could be a decent signing. Also, Rangers are playing at a higher standard than us. I don;t care what anybody says about the SPL - the quality of football is at a higher level throughout that league than it is in L1.

I don't agree with you on a lot of things, however to say he's from Bayern and Celtic were watching him therefore he's got to be good is too far the other end of the spectrum for my liking!

it says hes another lower league player signed from Germany and it's nothing to get too excited about.

 

I'm not. I was making a point. if you will refer to my post yesterday I said I think O'Connor could be a decent pick up.

 

How can you say he is a "lower league nobody" and pretend that doesn't mean he is poor.

Nobody is claiming he is a class or even decent signing because we haven’t seen him. Why not give him the benefit of the doubt till you have seen him play. The above suggest you wont

it doesn't. it means he's a nobody signed from the lower league, which is exactly what he is.

 

I was saying he's a nobody signed from the lower league. which is 100% factual.

and several has said he's a "good signing" despite not seeing him play. hows that different to saying it's not a good signing?

The only thing I will say is approaching signings from a (and this isn't the right word) negative standpoint will only make it harder for someone t win you over as he could have an excellent game but make 1 mistake and it will be that one mistake that is highlighted and exaggerated. I agree with you we shouldn't be claiming we've signed the next Rory McArdle just yet. However we shouldn't deride where he has come from as plenty of non league players step up and take the opportunity.

 

Great post. I don't think anyone is saying he's the next McCardle as nobody knows anything really about him but you can't right him off just because he hasn't any 1st team experience but has played for Bayern (II) so has to have something surely. We'll have to see.

 

Players have to start somewhere, however good they turn out

 

So let me get this right we can't say a player is poor until we see him play for our club but we can say a manager / coach is crap and wouldn't want him at our club can someone explain the difference to me please.
