Hey, anyone remember us signing a relatively unknown goalie from the German league who’d only played six matches for two German clubs. He was an international for what was at that time the equivalent of a Sunday league international team.

Think he did ok in the end.

 

I hope Edin & Greg do, as @Botswana Bantam says we need a bit more quality to go with these kids.

 

How do you know they are not young players with Quality

I said that because,he, like many others pulls signings to bits without seeing them play,mainly because of his dislike of our owners.
FFS let's wait until we have seen what they are capable of before we cast judgement.

 

If you had said at first it might not be anything to get excited about then I don’t think you would have had the response you have had. Form an opinion on what you see on the pitch. But you post one scathing post after another

 

You could have just welcomed the lad to the club and wished him all the best in his City career. Why not wait until you have seen him play and then state your opinion of him then based on your own evidence? Just a thought.

You said he was "another lower league nobody signed from Germany." Is that not casting aspersions on the lads footballing ability? ie lower league standard.........

 

Don't really understand what's wrong with making a pre judgement on a player and writing them off. Fans up and down the country will do it. Not sure why It's such a taboo on this forum. It's okay to think that someone will turn out to be a disaster and get proved wrong at a later stage. Negativity seems to really rile up some on here. Not everyone is going to happy clap at every signing.

 

Looking at the signing objectively, it makes my feelings on Vukic's arrival look positively wildly optimistic.

 

What are your thoughts on the new lad?

 

I'm neither here or there with him. I'm expecting him to come in and do a decent job without setting the world on fire. Given that he's unproven and the fact that we've signed a number of German unknows who have failed to make any impact, I can certainly understand the pessimism behind it however.

 

Expecting fans to welcome a specific player and wish them well on here kind of infers that the player is likely to read this site....

I don’t see anything wrong with someone having limited expectations or being underwhelmed purely on the basis of who we’ve brought in from a similar standard over the last couple of years.

This lad may prove to be the first real success in our approach to recruit players from Germany. But we’ve already brought in several and they’ve all been crap in terms of ability.

I would love to know how these decisions on signings are made. Has this lad been scouted by us or recommended by someone or just punted at us by his agent as “young, big club pedigree, potential”?

100% record on absolutely dreadful, complete waste of time and resources so far signing anyone from Germany and I’m not sure we’ve got the expertise at the club to spot potential but you know, you live in hope.

 

We have a scout in Germany who recommended him to us, so Greg stated.

 

To be fair to Edin one of his first comments was "we have a scouting network in Europe" or words to that effect, but once again the ones that have been brought in up till now have hardly been a sucsess.
