    Portsmouth will do well and there is no reason we can’t with the signings we have made

    Of the teams promoted I’d go with Coventry. Of the teams from last year you’d have to fancy The Posh especially with Evans in charge. I’d expect Shrewsbury to go again and then you’ve the likes of Scunny, Fleetwood if Barton gets them playing.
    Don’t think Sunderland will pull up any trees neither will Barnsley or Burton.

    If Collins can get what on paper is a very strong first eleven playing and scoring then we’ve got a very good chance at a top six finish finish this season.

    Portsmouth building slowly good side last season, and I expect them to do even better this coming season.

    Last year wigan,blackburn and rovrum all went straight back up;

    It would be nice to think that was a one-off and some league one clubs have a shot this year, otherwise the gap between championship and league one is getting far too big.

    Agree with most of that, just not sure on Shrewbury. They lost a lot of their loaness and Paul Hurst who imo, was the reason their fortunes changed so much, they were relegation fodder the season he took over. It wouldn't surprise me if they regress.

    I think we could be the dark horses judging by the bookies odds, we are far better value than a Scunny for instance who had to use a fair bit of youth in their last friendly to make up the numbers.

    Looking at the business across the division I'd say Posh, us and pompey have done the best business "on paper".

    Most underwhelming so far has to be Sunderland, if we'd have made their signings so far I'd hardly be jumping for joy, nor is my boss who's a season ticket holder, but still time for it to change.

    Can’t see it, they’ve lost McNulty and replaced him with the lad from Rotherham. A lot depends on Jodi Jones.

    Evans is maybe a reason they might not,. Wind the players up halfway through a season and form may fall off a cliff....... cue..... :thumbsup:

    My bad Wilsden, completely forgot their gaffer had left. In that case they might struggle. I also forgot about Pompey in my original post. They should be somewhere near the playoffs this season.

    I think it will be much more open this season. Barnsley may start slowly again and kick on by Xmas.Luton have a good side with plenty of goals but We have a chance if we get a decent back up keeper and one more striker as now or two if Charlie goes.

    When you say it like that, there are parallels between our preparation and Peterborough's - similar number of signings, many exits, key striker gone or likely to go...

    ... the difference is they have a proven manager in Steve Evans, and we have a complete novice.

    Surely it has to be Charlton's time... not that they're ever going to be considered 'dark horses', but come on...

    I was sold on them last year - but virtually any of their six strikers would walk into our team at this point.

    Be interesting to see how they get on. The Bowyer bounce seemed to have faded by the end of the season
