No you don’t do it that way . The appropriate way would be a two year deal , year one would be consummate with the league in question eg CC and if relegation were to follow then year 1 minus X% . Thats what the Prem should do then there would be zero need to have parachute payments intended and excused because clubs have over reached salaries..

If all clubs did it ie enforced, what would be the pitfall?

It doesn’t have to be overt though. Rupp could have increased the budget by 5%/10% in Jan, but this funded by players leaving, increased gates and commercial revenue, rather than his pocket.

the ambition would have been more spent with him funding it.

We don’t know anything for sure, but considering the ins and outs, I’d be suprised if the 5/10% isn’t about right

Cardiff lost £285 million last year. Staggering.

You're mistaken. Last year, the 24/25 season, Cardiff lost £35 mill in the Championship. A very big number in itself but not untypical in the Championship. It's still staggering!

The figure of £285 mill you quoted isn't last season's loss. It's the accumulated losses which have been incurred over the life of Cardiff City. It simple terms, it demonstrates that Cardiff has been loss making over most of its life.

As I've said before I'd be happy to be a midtable Championship side, but looking at some of those figures from Premiership and Championship losses I'm not too sure, the owner has to have very deep pockets to survive.

This is the main theme I feel like we hear the most from fans now...... how long can losses like this go on as it's becoming normality?

The problem is clubs will still offer full wages even in the event of relegation. They'll take the risk to get player A, if it improves their chances of staying at the top table. Unfortunately I doubt the EFL can dictate what clubs pay their players and with very clever lawyers and accountants, there'll be ways to get around any rules to restrict salaries. For City to have any chance they'll probably end up shopping in the Scandinavian market along with probably half the teams in the championship already.

You wont it from the bandwagon jumpers who dont really care how much trouble the club get in so long as they push for promotion worse case being that they fook it off once it goes wrong :((
Think this clubs fans get the meaning of how bad it can go bearing in what happened during the early 2000s :(
Still how the powers that be aint all over this shit is shocking

Another fun bit of cost work from Maguire, but he has worked out the most expensive PL squad adjusted for modern inflation. It's basically the top 5 clubs until Leeds appear 115th with their most expensive ever side after their CL run which ended up dooming them for years to come.

On the long list, our 2001 PL squad was ranked as the 345th most expensive squad with an adjusted modern price of £124.5m. Blackpools squad was the lowest spending squad in PL history at 560th.

Its losses accumulated whilst in the CC , nothing to do with their L1 status ( If you know what I mean) .

The players could all take a 15% wage cut and reduce the number of fellow employees losing their jobs
Now that would really endear them to the fan base
