That figure includes total wage outgoings.

For example, ours is £7.45m in comparison.

Sorry to regurgitate the accounts folks, but what I am a little confused by is the net deficiency asset figure of £5.5M, and the fact it so high and has grown by £3M in a year. As we have few actual material assets, are these figures related to Rupp's loans perhaps? Dennis or someone else may know?

Bolton post mental losses for the third tier and the day after are flying the squad down to Plymouth.

    Love this sport!

Other way for me for awhile, J25 to Hemel for awhile, which was a significant improvement on Slough both of which were notional bases.

Fingers crossed! Although looking at diesel prices it might have been cheaper flying down than filling up the coach!

To be fair, didn't we fly down to Plymouth? It was probably on the Loganair route Manchester > Exeter, not exactly a chartered flight!

If the squad (18 players at a minimum), management + medical team (perhaps 10 staff) + Senior Management say 3, then that would be around 60% of the seats.
Exeter is a good hour drive away from Plymouth. Additionally you would need to transport the team to Manchester Airport, which with the vagaries of the M62 is a good hour/hour and a half.
If they flew on a scheduled flight, they would have to leave Manchester around 2.00 pm on the Friday and have two overnight stays (Friday and Saturday) and the current schedule is for the flight to return on Sunday at 6.20pm arriving in Manchester at 7.10pm!
I would assume a charter flight from Leeds/Bradford to Exeter (there are no current schedule flights), would be far more cost/time efficient.
The club would still have to get the kit and supporting equipment down to Plymouth.
Using scheduled flights would potentially be problematic, costly, and a inefficient use of time.

Christ knows. It was more an non-serious post about how funny/mental football is when a third tier side posts £14m losses over a year, then the day after flies 40+ members of staff away for a match.

    GULP.

A total of £3bn and counting. That is how much Championship clubs have lost in the past 10 years.

Senior figures at Bristol City - a club owned by Steve Lansdown since 2002 which has recorded a loss in all but one season in his 24-year tenure and has lost £218m in that time

    Taken from https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/articles/ce35l43w83lo

We will need a very very wealthy person/consortium prepared to splash the cash to takeover of the club if we are to ever get to and stay in the Championship. The numbers are astonishing and appear to be getting bigger each season.

I was astonished reading that about Bristol City. Incredible amount of money for a family to lose to finance a Championship side. Herr Rupp will be having nightmares thinking about the 'consequences' of getting promotion.

Just been reading the article. Quite terrifying really. It’s telling that the clubs in profit is either offset by ownership or covered by parachute payments - essentially funding failure from initial reward. Surely it’s an unsustainable model?

Yes spotted it. At some point clubs are going to totally collapse, the debts are unsustainable.
Although I really feel for Sheffield Wednesday, they may have got off lightly, if the club actually survives.

There was an article around spending with a bit of info that might interest some from this article -> Something frightening is happening in English football

"Where does this end? The i Paper understands that there exists multiple EFL owners in Leagues One and Two who would be keen to explore salary cap initiatives and greater cost control. The issue of wealth distribution may well be engaged by the new independent regulator, but if that merely leaks towards squad costs then it merely exacerbates the same issues."....

I think the idea of salary caps was pretty much shot down around covid time, but i wonder if some clubs have another view on it these days?

Maguire has posted a thread on L1 money losses as they are pretty unreal for the 24/25 season.

One nugget in there, for the 24/25 season, Birmingham spent nearly £39m on wages!! Another bit.... "As a result of wage and other inflation, average losses pre player sales for 24/25 were £180,000 a week in League One, with some being far higher."

There should be a points deduction for making a loss, I would suggest 1point per million pounds lost.(that would level the playing field a bit)
