I was thinking that.Surely Shipley Paint will have the right RAL colour to match the grass.

Am always glad when City win but that does not mask the condition of a poor pitch at the start of the season that should like other clubs be in tip top condition at this stage. But it seems to match some of the standards of some supporters who accept mediocracy.

There has obviously been some sort of f#ck up with the pitch and yes it might be embarrassing, but we are where we are. It doesn't have to mean we are accepting mediocrity.

Our type of pitch which has millions of polymer strands embedded into the specialist sand sub-structure is designed to improve and bind the roots of the grass to stabilise the surface and help to address some of the surface drainage issues. It's called Fibrasand, designed by the local St Ives Turf Institute. It has to be cored regularly and the fibrasand replaced. It may even be every season. It's an expensive process and Sparks said at the start of the close season that there was no money in the pot to do it this year. We'll only know later in the season whether that was a good decision or not.

Will have a word with Donald at weekend, the Reflecting Pool colour is about right for VP in the winter.

Ah ok thank Dennis. Unless it was a health and safety issue it's a shame we didn't prioritise the pitch over new seats then.

We did dig up the pitch this summer though.

Fibrasand has to be laid and looked after very carefully when used with aeration and lots of water otherwise the sand in the mixture will rise and cause bald spots where the seeds do not take. The laying and seeding has to be carefully done or can cause problems that it is used to help stop. Especially in drought conditions.

Has there been any comment from the club regarding the condition of the pitch. Is the hope that the potential downpours will rectify the issues we've seen, which I assume was partly caused by the drought conditions.

Don't worry about the pitch it will be an advantage to our squad playing on it throughout the season.

Certainly looks good from that angle.
Wonder if they've managed to source some paint the same colour as the grass now?

It should be cracking by Oct 10th. One home game in about 6 weeks? Best pitch in the league:grinning:

Apologies late onto this as not been on for a while. This isn't factually correct. Sparks said that we could have gone down the route of "stitching" the pitch - essentially adding artificial strands of "grass" into the pitch surface which helps with the aesthetic look of the pitch year round - but didn't do this due to prohibitive costs and the fact we rip it up every year, but we definitely did rip it up and re-do the fibresand under the main surface in pre-season.

I may be remembering this wrong but I'm sure Sparks said the stitching has only been delayed until next summer due to them not being able to afford to do both the seat upgrades and stiching this summer. So whilst yes, it is expensive, there are plans for it to be done next year.
