RIP Terry Yorath. An absolute gentleman. Part of the best City team (Coach) I have ever seen.

 

Very sad news, a true legend and big thankyou for all the happy memories you helped to bring to the club. RIP Taff

He was part of the management team that produced the best, most exciting side I have witnessed in my 56 years of following City. You will always have a place in our hearts.

Very sad loss indeed.

I lived in Cardiff in the late 70s when I was starting to get into football. Being from Cardiff, Terry Yorath was an absolute hero in my primary school. I had a poster from Shoot magazine of Terry in his pale blue Coventry kit on my wall.

It was quite incredible to me, after moving to Bradford when he played for us and then became such an important part of our history in the 80s. Like others who experienced that late 80s team and the football, I have such fond memories of that time.

Such a sad loss of a very decent man.

 

The 84/85 team was one of the the best I have seen in all my years following City, many thanks to Terry Yorath for bringing so much joy to us fans in that era, and may he RiP.

 

I had no idea until today that he was injured after jumping out of a window whilst trying to save people on that awful day in 85. So not only a great footballing man but a hero too. R.I.P. Terry

 

Sad news, he was significantly affected by the events of May 85, not to mention the loss of his son.

I don't feel particularly comfortable saying this, but I hope a bit more effort is put into the statement before the minutes silence/applause than was done for Allan Gilliver's before the Wigan game, that barely scratched the surface of what Gilly did for the club.

 

Echo many of the above comments especially @Parader, I spoke with Gabby when she was making the documentary about that terrible day and she said how much that day had effected her dad he rearly spoke about it until he took part in that documentary.
Totally agree he was a part of what was possibly the best footballing side that I've had the pleasure of watching when winning the old 3rd Divison Championship.

Sad news indeed. Thoughts and condolences to his family.

 

Terry was everything we need in a man and a footballer, fearless, loyal and talented and a great family man who endured the ultimate hardship of living his life without his son after 15 years and seeing him pass in front of him in his back garden and also risking his life as we saw at the City fire. Words are really not enough

 

Feared this news was coming when Gabby had to cut short her presenting last night.
