This is the first 25 minutes or so from Saturday.

Why can't Hopkin see that his long ball doesn't work?

back 4 and one of the cm's should come deep to recieve the ball, play it out to Ball, O'B, Payne, Butterfield. also - why did he insist of playing Butterfield & Akpan in a line? Butterfield should be further up.

My answer is that I don’t know David Hopkin; therefore I am not privy to his thinking.

Sorry Jon, but the last thing we need is more square pegs in round holes. Mellor and Wood shouldn't be in midfield, although I agree a three man midfield is necessary. You're right about Payne and Ball too.

Also NKP would be dropped way before AOC for me. It would mean leaving Miller out of the squad but I'm not sure we'd miss much anyway.

If only you could adopt another of Hopkins tactics, and send this video out via text to all the players.

Mellor was excellent in midfield prior to injury, and our biggest threat from distance.

I’d play O’Brien for Wood as he’s probably our second best player, but agree with the rest. Mellor played a huge part before his injury, with him on the pitch the keepers kicks weren’t totally useless.

My question would be, why did we always play towards the biggest centre half on the pitch? Not the right sided one, not the left sided one on the pitch!!

Why did we not try to hit their full backs wide?

Why did we never try play short?

If we can see it.....then why can't Hopkin....surely he must have Fleetwood watched as well so knows what to expect so must come up with a plan......we need wins.

The one at about 1:10 where Butterfield passes to Chicksen and then moves into space to receive the pass. Guess where the ball ends up? :joy::joy:

Come on guys do you not realize
We have a relatively new pitch and don't want to spoil it
So play the ball in the air thus less wear and tear on the grass

Speaking of which its starting to look a bit bald on the Bradford end half. Hope Edin kept the receipt.

I noticed that too. Guess it only grew thanks to all the hot air Edin provided.

The pitch ought to be in great condition considering they put half a ton of horse shit on it every other week

That'll be because they didn't actually spend anything near the amount he made out they did on it.

Change to what? Until recently the only attack minded player he had on the bench was Brunker and then a load of kids.

We now have some depth but it’s still like for like. It’s ok saying change it but to what? And what tactic?

Wood did a good job playing on the left and if he was fit enough against Fleetwood he should have played. And before his injury Mellor was playing well on the right and so in the absence of wingers they would bring better balance to the team.

Mellor and Wood might well be options if we are looking for more width. But in a 4-4-2 formation with our current back four, it would then leave O'Brien, Butterfield, Payne, Ball and Akpan vying for the two central midfield positions. And those five appear to be Hopkin's preferred midfielders .. even if he doesn't play all of them in their natural position!

Play it wide. Play it to feet. Odd cross into the box acceptable.
