Summer 26 Transfer Rumours

I'd love us to do what County did and look at the lower leagues in Europe to find our own 'Jatta'.

 

To be fair Jatta didn't come from a lower league, he was playing for Viborg in the Danish superleague. Having a look at the league itself OB have just been promoted back to it and have a former Leeds striker playing for them, 6ft 4 powerful and has scored double figures this season. But I would like to go down this route, look at Bolton, most of their team came from European leagues and they did well. However I think with our past under ER, we have been a lot more cautious on the European front.

 

Do you know how much he cost ?

 

Fair enough. I knew it was a Danish club he came from but don't know what sort of level they play at in comparison to our leagues over here and just assumed it would be more or less equivalent.

What about him? I'm talking about Jatta and all I knew about him was he came from a Danish club, I knew nothing about which club it was or what level they play at.

On 2 September 2024, following a successful trial period, Power joined Danish Superliga club AGF on a contract until the end of the season.

The last club he played for prior to coming to us . Yes there are gems, young or old in those unknown leagues .

 

I know who Max Power played for. I'm not sure how I can make it any clearer what I said about Jatta so I'm not going to bother trying.

Jatta cost Notts 150k euros and has one year left on his contract to June 27. Now is exactly the time to buy him. At some stage we are going to start investing in players like others have done to climb higher or just stay a lower league club signing freebies and cheapos

 

I cant imagine there was a huge amount of scouting done from the Notts end either. They were bought out by 2 Danish brothers in 2019, Christoffer Reedtz is the main figure of the two (doing alright for himself too from yesterday's posts) is part of an ownership group at Viborg, he's one of the main players in that group too.

 

People weren’t “creaming themselves” as you put it, but to be fair he’s a proven goalscorer so people were within their rights to be satisfied with him signing.

All managers sign duds, but we’ve done alright in the last couple of years with all these “pretty poor players” haven’t we!

 

I wonder how much GA plays a part in transfers? It sounds like we have a transfer team from the bits mentioned before in either the forums or T&A interviews. Kinda sounds like there is GA, Gent, Sharpe & Sparks who go through all the transfers but is it a majority rule? Or 4 thumbs up needed? Or does GA have a tie breaker as he would be coach?

Seems like every club now has this transfer committee type setup where more and more people have a say than just the manager.

 

Yes a fair point . Yes they have said they have a “ team” . Surely Sparks input would be from a finance perspective as he’s hardly a football expert . I’m pretty sure I heard in an interview that GA has the last word ? To be fair it’s a bit hit and miss as last two windows have pointed out.

Yeah seems that GA has the final say so on any targets, which makes sense for us.

I remember the Peterborough chairman on his podcast saying they have a similar setup and they need a majority ruling but i'm sure he said Barry Fry has the tie breaker over the manager, as there's a good chance managers wont last but they are a club that hire to a system (or aim to). His example was like if we want one sitting midfielder and one box to box, they'll try sign two for each setup. If they want 1 up top and him to be a pressing forward, they'll aim for two of them as a minimum. But they hire a manger to play their way with their squad and wont change, whereas i dont think we hire people with that mindset, we suit the man in charge and if the next guy wants a change then so bit it, cross that when we come to it.

 

We are probably another week maybe from deals starting to sound like they are gaining traction? Guessing a lot of lads are still on holiday for another week maybe two, the clubs in the play offs maybe the middle of June, but maybe the end of this week start of next week we should start seeing things ramp up across the league.

Silly season with links then start, agents getting their clients name out in the world by just getting someone to tweet "he is linked to multiple EFL clubs" that kinda naff. Cant wait!!!
