We're able to lean on our status as a 'bigger' team without forking out the division's highest wages.

You can get by at this level making sensible signings who have real talent, who work hard, and who will enjoy playing for the club. Sure, signing the division's most sought after players may not be in reach yet, but it doesn't need to be.

A balanced, professional team in L1 with a good base of quality will always be a contender no matter what precocious talent other clubs have. You can't really say that further up the food chain.

I've read this multiple times, still can't work out where you've put the washing powder reference!

The last two seasons have been superb, you take far too much notice of friendly results and performance and write off the signings,it’s an annual event for you. Incidentally thank God we didn’t pay the wages for Pearson, he turned out to be a cart horse for Donny. Hence they ended up getting Byrne on loan.

To confuse everyone, there's an Ibbotson in the young squad playing Campion tonight. Harry Ibbitson I'm certain was in the Austrian pics.

My point is the minute we have a poor season we will have to make cut backs on what’s already lower budget for the league where does that take us? I get the argument on pulling the plug where does it leave us but that’s 99% of the football league. What you’re saying is accept your lot.

Don’t care about friendlys they serve a purpose. Your missing my point I agree it’s been great last two years but what happens when we have poor one or we don’t do as well as last year. Due to the model of the club it will impact and we are already in lower regions budget wise. Likely will drop lower or expect GA to work more miracles in. Continually stronger league where other clubs are not as frugal as us. We need a plan of how to grow the club and get more investment. But it’s one window to another, with no apparent thought about a strategy for the future, hence why the fans forums are just complete non event as they don’t know.

What I'm saying is to keep doing what has given us great success over the last 2 seasons especially and keep building step by step with manageable losses. If you spend a lot and it doesn't work well like when we got relegated you have to do even bigger cuts. It's going to take a lot for our season ticket sales to drop significantly from what they are now to the point of it having a huge impact on the budget.

Chill out mate and watch some cricket or something over a few beers and enjoy the rest of the summer.

Over 6 weeks left in this window.

Barnsley have confirmed their game against Blackpool scheduled for 1st September has been pushed back 24 hours, no reason given but I noticed that 1st September is transfer deadline day so I wonder if a few more games will be moved to avoid a clash. I can see it being a bit chaotic and a lot of rumours about players when team sheets come out and some players being withdrawn at late notice due to bids. I can't recall another season where there's been a full EFL fixture list scheduled for a deadline day.

I'm a bit worried about Humphrys.
Hasn't gone to Austria - appreciate the family circumstances part but also possibly injured.
He's going to be really low on fitness.
Probably will be a sub for a few games and if he doesn't come on and do well then I can see folk getting on his back which would be a shame.
Hope I'm completely wrong and he wallops in a couple of goals in his first appearance!
