Anyone else feel like something is missing with this window? Arguably the only spot we've obviously upgraded is LCB with Macca over Tilt. Keeper sounds better on paper but I wouldn't be surprised to see GA stick with Walker for now. Phillips is a proven 10 but that means Sarce or Pointon have to drop out.

It's a lot of hope. We hope Connolly can play DM again 9 years later. We hope Beesley can finally be a big scorer at this level. We hope Cartwright can fill big shoes in CM/DM. We were 12th from Jan 1st to the end of the season and it doesnt look like there are huge upgrades in the team yet. Long way to go obviously and deals to be done, but it feels very mid-table to me.

My prediction for the season is we eventually drop the 5 at the back for a 4231 or 433. There's too much investment in Jackson, Sarce, Phillips, Pointon, Humps etc to not use enough of them and the wing back tactic is naturally dropping across the EFL too.

 

Let's see where we are come sept 1st when the window closes. It's still too early to say if it's been good bad or ok window.

 

Beasley will be playing in effectively a front 3 with Sarcevic, Phillips and Pointon to share the load.

 

I don't think we're expecting Beasley to get 20 goals, Alexander has said many times he looks for more than just goals from his strikers. What we'll be wanting is him to chip in with goals alongside be a presence up front and leading the press. If does that on a more consistent basis than what Humphrys did then it's an improvement

 

I agree with the formation issues. We're a little attacking midfield heavy in terms of quality and getting an extra body in there at the sacrifice of the inconsistent wing backs would make sense although that probably leaves very little room for Neufville or Wright unless Humphrys and Sarc or Jackson move on.

 

4-2-3-1 allows you to have a front 4 of Phillips, Pointon, Beesley and Jackson which I think is our best option. I hope GA is considering alternatives to 3-4-3 though I'm not sure he is.

 

I'd probably have Sarc infront of Jackson but it's a close call and certainly, that looks a line up with more balance and goal threat than a 343.

 

I don't either. I'm just looking for a shape to get more out of our attacking players and full backs will be easier to find than forward players.

 

Lapslie definitely isn't the midfielder Donny are signing as he's travelled to Austria.
