I remember Ashby having a good game against Wycombe but I have to say that was about it, I think he'll be decent back up though. I'd be shocked if he's a starter for Luton.

We just know that whatever happens in the next few weeks there will be a couple of signings on deadline day. Mid afternoon on Simon Parker’s blog on the day he will say “ City hoping to bring in at least one and working on it”. After the announcement of a player it will be “City working on another ,understand great activity and hoping to beat the deadline “ Then later on it will be announced that we just beat the deadline for our latest signing. Happens every year, sometimes more successful than others.

To be fair, for most of that time he was kicking his heels at West Ham, either on the subs bench or not in the matchday squad. It’s not like he was injured for most of it - he just wasn’t being picked. And when he did play he was mostly in a team playing Moyesball counter attacking football, where he was expected to play up front alone and hold the ball up, which is not his game at all - he’s a fox in the box striker, not a target man. He was as predictably unsuccessful in that role as Eoin Doyle was for us.
The guy was a class act at PL level when played in team that suited his game. He knows where the goal is. I reckon he could still do a good job at L1 level for Luton.

I don’t think Ashby was treated harshly. He was treated accordingly - same as the other loans who came along with him. From that perspective, he should be rather fond of City, because we recognised his ability and played him or included him in the squad, which is more than can be said of his colleague White or the flop that was Sibley/Mullins.

Looks like we won't be competing with Oxford for player signatures for the rest of the summer window.

That could be very good for us.
They were in for Wintle apparently.

Last season’s figures for Ings suggest he played on 23 occasions and scored 2 goals.
Personally I am not sure he will do that well in League 1. He will be 34 in July and someone who uses speed along with guile, could find that the injuries and age have robbed him of that edge.
I recall all the Nahki Wells comments, and how he would do well in League 1. Well out of 39 appearances he scored 5 goals, he had managed 10 in 39 appearances the season before for Bristol City in the Championship.

    Difficult to say really.
Billy Sharp is a good comparator but even if he didn't play all the time he always seemed very fit to me.
First challenge for Ings will be getting fit. Then there's the league one problem of some teams trying to play like Premier league clubs and some with long ball and scrapping which means tactics need to be flexible. We'll have to see how Leicester approach it.

I think he'll play most games. We didn't utilise any of our loan signings, him included. Not a dig at the club before anyone reacts.

Yea I found it really odd that everyone slags off the lads that were signed in Jan yet the club must have scouted them before hand. White wasn’t seen again after basically one appearance and Mullin was given nothing more than cameos. Sibley vanished off the face of the earth. Someone got it wrong but it certainly wasn’t the fault of the players. As you say.. they weren’t utilised at all. Wheatley was stuck up top on his own and had lumped balls into him and got completely written off as a footballer. The kid is 20 years old. It’s like our fan base should all be working as scouts seeing as they are such excellent judges of footballing ability.

To be fair, i struggle to remember Nuefville having many good games, he goes missing from games far too often and his end product isnt the best
