Danny Ings is signing for Leicester. Will be 34 before the season starts but League one should be a piece of cake for him.

 

Yet some fans wrote him off season after season, but he came back stronger, as you say diplacing players with a far better pedigree.

 

Really? I cant see him doing well at all. He's a crock these days, been nearly 5 years since he was a first team footballer anywhere. He wont get up to speed in L1 to be a long term threat. Might have the odd moment, but i'd be amazed if he plays 30 times and scores more than 6 or 7 the minutes he can manage.

 

6 or 7 goals from limited game time sounds quite good to me, considering the return we got from Wheatley and Mullin's limited game time last season.

 

I imagine £15,000 a week for that return might change a few minds though.

In all honesty, I'm happy with Powell as a 3rd or 4th choice if he's cheap enough. He's got the required quality and we wouldn't need to flog him to death so hopefully he'd be available for the cameos and rare starts we'd need him for.

Shame,I would have liked City to go for him.Maybe we did,but after the way he was treated here,he might have thought no thanks.

 

That's at best case really. But the number out the gate is that he is on £15k a week in L1, that's a boat load of money for someone who might play a third of the season at best.

Ings' days are well behind him, injuries have just caught up with him far too often. He's played 131 games in all comps since leaving Villa in Jan 2023, scored 7 goals. He's managed to play a full 90 minutes just 9 times since the summer of 2022. That much money on a bloke with that fitness record is insane (if true).

 

Always had the right attitude despite never really being picked. I think he will do well at Luton.

It looks like Billy Bantam is getting some company. Didn't they say months ago at a supporters meeting that there will be a female Bantam mascot from next season?

 

It’s the new female counterpart, was mentioned they’d be doing it by someone in some fans forum or something a while back.

How was he treated?. He came in to challenge Neufville, and for the main part, Neufville deserved to keep his place.

I would have liked him back, maybe we tried but he and Newcastle think he will get more starts at Luton? Mind you, I reckon Newcastle will release him next summer.

It was said tongue in cheek, I wasn't suggesting Ings would be a player I'd like to see us signing, more that I'd be quite happy with a 4th choice striker that can contribute that many goals.

 

I would have been more than happy to see him back with us. Never got a run for whatever reason but was definitely player in there.
