Disagree. We have 3 players for 2 positions. Touray can do both but we need one more player for LCB or LWB.

Neufville could switch sides to LWB but then there's no one who can play there so we're short there as well.

We seem to have 86 attacking midfielders though.

He has played there before but hasn't gone the legs for it now. Isn't attacking enough where he can be an effective outlet on that flank. As a LCB, he’s still solid. So another WB will be a priority, although id imagine GA will have a few targets in mind. Probably someone who can play on both flanks

I'd love Osei-Tutu but I'm not sure if can play on the left.

I would too, but no chance. I believe Championship clubs are interested?

Harry Gray could still go either way for me. He had a attitude at Rotherham according to their fans and acted like he was far too good for the place when he didnt exactly pull up any trees there. Still a teenager but looks like there's some talent there, i wouldnt be banking on him getting them over the line this season.

They are also after Nathan Lowe from the sounds of it.

If LWBs are short in supply then Neufville can play on the left but we'll need a RWB then.

I think the lack of good enough wing backs is leading to enough teams dropping it to be honest. That season we just missed out on promotion and the season we went up, it was a bit insane how many lower league teams just started playing 5 at the back. That season we went up, it felt like everyone had some former winger playing deeper as a wing back at one stage.

But over the last season or so, it feels like it's fading out? I've not gone through all teams, but pretty much most of the L1 sides we played last season moved away from 5 at the back for large part or moved away from it completely last season. I think it's awkward in L1 to find good enough quality wing backs.

Just throwing a name out there, I’m not claiming to have heard anything…

What about Ben Osborn? He’ll be 32 next month, but could still a very useful player. He can play anywhere down the left as well as in central midfield and he would bring a lot of experience with over 350 Premier League and Championship appearances.

He spent last season on loan at Stockport, so I’d imagine he’d be open to another move to League One. He’s available on a free and despite his age, he still seems to be performing at a good level. He was ranked fifth in League One full backs on FotMob last season.

Could be the sort of experienced signing that adds quality and versatility to the squad?

Mansfield fans think they are signing him, Notts County fans think he's turned them down to sign for them. Looked a decent utility player at Stockport. I guess he's another McGoldrick who probably doesn't fancy moving house again whilst they are a pro and there are enough L1/L2 clubs within an hour of that Derbyshire/Nottinghamshire border to allow them to do so.

That’s a fair analysis - although I’m not convinced GA sees him purely as a centre back. Agree with the comment about not being attacking enough - the Barnsley and play off games stood out to me, not looking to get in behind his opposite number all too often

He is also adept playing at cdm while playing in the Premier league two for Newcastle, but definitely a signing i would be happy with

According to EFL gateway facebook page, whoever that is, are saying we are in negotiations with Jordan Davies with a view to signing him after his contract at Fleetwood expired. I believe he played as a trialist on Saturday

I’d like to think we’re looking for better than a player who finished last season at 15th placed Fleetwood and wasn’t offered a new deal.

Mansfield's squad average age must be about 34, Clough likes his players mid to late 30's.

The trialists are here to get fit and help with numbers and if they catch the eye of us or other clubs possibly get a contract. They have about a month to impress

I'd imagine the chances of us offering Davies a deal are less than zero percent.
